Melaka Madness

I took a trip to Melaka, Malaysia this week, just a 2 hour drive from Kuala Lumpur. It is very old and historical city with beautiful buildings made of bricks and stones. I loved the view from the top of the fort, ocean on one end and the town on the other. It is a very colorful, festive city, full of life. And the food is incredible! Especially the Nyonya Cendol, their famous ice dessert. It was really hot, but we still decided to climb the steps up the fort and to take lots of photos. Plus, it was much needed exercise lol!! Just wore a basic tank and denim cut-offs. I love Melaka and am so happy I went, even if I did feel sticky from the heat by the end of the day. It was a fun place to spend the day for sure. Definitely a must-go-to city in Malaysia if you ever get the chance to visit!!

And thank you Naples Street Style for the FEATURE! I have always admired how the Italians dress, so I’m super excited to be featured on their fashion site! Definitely check it out and browse the site! It helps keep me updated on the latest runway shows, and everything else in between when I’m practically on the other side of the world!! But you may need to translate!!

I spent this week in Bali, Indonesia and it was absolute bliss! We stayed in Nusa Dua, right on the beach. Beautiful white sand, with the clearest blue water I have ever seen! The hot weather was perfect for swimming in the ocean.I love what salt water and sun does to my hair and skin! I also got to enjoy the traditional Balinese massage, and I think I like it even more than the Thai massage lol! As for clothes, I packed super light for the trip: denim overall shorts, bikinis, floral jumpers, and lightweight cottons. Easy to throw on over my bikini. I did buy some hand-made bracelets from the Balinese people that I stacked on. Just a few pieces to will bring back memories of Bali. As for the food, I’ve been snacking on Mangosteens and Rambutan and trying the Nasi Goreng and Mie Goreng. So yummy and so good for you. We also spent a whole day outside the resort, really getting to see the culture in Bali. All the art craftings, food, waterfalls, volcanos, and temples. I’ll post more photos of the culture of Bali soon, once I get a chance to look through all of them! As for now, it’s Chinese New Year, Gong Xi Fa Choy!

And read my interview with StyleSofia HERE! And check out her store! Her pieces are so simple yet chic, and so so affordable. Perfect for everyday where. I cannot wait to get my hands on a few of them!

Here are some photos taken in Thailand. We stayed in Hatyai, Thailand, but spent a lot of time out and about on the outskirts of the city. It was really an eye opening experience. Most people living there have such a simple life and take it easy, one day at a time. And the Thai food was amazing, especially the seafood. My family and I stopped at a really good seafood restraunt right by the coast, that’s where the first photo was taken. There was a family living back in there right on the water! I was pretty much posing on their front porch. Very calm, beautiful scenery. We did some touristy stuff too of course, like visiting the Monkey’s Fun Park! I made sure I wasn’t the one holding our banana chips in fear of being attacked, the monkeys come so close to you! haha! Thailand is so different from Malaysia in so many ways. The food, the people, the language. I loved visiting Hatyai, and hope to visit Bangkok soon! Right now, I am back in Kuala Lumpur hitting up the hot spots! Next up on our itinerary: Bali and Singapore!!!

And yes, Dylana of Nana in Wonderland is my sister! lol We’re both traveling together. We took more photos recently together that I will post soon!

And here is an illustration of me by Marta Gustems, talented artist and blogger of Dibujogente. My friends were all so surprised at how well this illustration captures me. It also took me by surprise too when I saw it. Thank you Marta so much! Do visit her Boutique Suite store in Barcelona, Spain as well!

My stay in Penang was absolutely beautiful. We had amazing views of the ocean from our hotel room, and with the really warm weather, what more could you ask for? I think Penang might now be one of my favorite travel destinations. White sandy beaches and lots of great food down Gurney Drive. Australians and Brits definitely agree, they are all over the place here having a good time, but only now are Americans just beginning to come. Everyone was telling me to try the famous Asam Laksa in Penang and I have to say, it is SO yummy! I can really take spicy foods, but not as much as I used to. Growing up, I put chili on just about everything haha! I also really like the soy bean milk they serve there a lot! Plus, we had an awesome taxi driver, Ali, who would fetch us here, there, and everywhere, all whiling giving us lots of good information as well as making us laugh just about every five seconds!!But we’ve definitely had other few crazy taxi drivers which nearly scared the crap outta me. But but all in all, I had a safe and wonderful time in Penang. And like I said, very easy dressing. High waisted denim shorts and tanks are my new best friend. After Penang, I spent the last 2 days in Thailand! Took so many beautiful photos. Can’t wait to take a look at them later! But now, I am back in KL for a bit! :)))
