I am currently writing from my hotel lobby here in Verona, Italy. These past few weeks have been insanity. With the campaign shoots to my clothing collection, launch press events, and now, over a week working in Italy for the Venice Film Festival. I’m glad to be back to writing after a week of absolute crazy. I had to pinch myself as I found these images of me on the red carpet of the ‘A Star Is Born’ screening during the 75th Venice Film Festival at Sala Grande in Lido! I feel so lucky to have an incredible Armani Beauty family. So far, we’ve already travelled all over Europe this past year from Paris to London and now Venice. Venice may have been the icing on the cake. I had my red carpet Giorgio Armani fitting back in NYC before we flew out and I think I tried on every single dress…from sequins to ruffles to chiffon. But there was something so special about this very simple, long and lean lace gown. It fit like an absolute glove. I knew it was the one. And with only 30 minutes to get ready before walking the carpet, we went with a simple red lip and clean face. My favorite red at the moment is Rouge d’ Armani Matte lipstick in #400. It’s that classic Old Hollywood “movie star” red that is my go-to for any red carpet event. I threw my hair up in a bun last second to show off these decadent earrings, and voila. I was ready. And even with the rain coming down on the red carpet, it still felt like magic. What a memorable night with my fellow Armani Beauty Stars followed by a team dinner with Cate Blanchett. Keep pinching me. Keep pinching me.

SINGAPORE PART 2: Katong and Little India
Part 2 of my Singapore guide is here. It may have just be the craziest four days of my life. It was so hot that I wore bikinis as outerwear and spent the little down-time I had on the rooftop pool, soaking in the views of Katong. So much of DNA is rooted in Southeast Asia thanks to my mother. She was born in Singapore and raised in Malaysia. Give this lady a prawn-mee noodle soup and she is the happiest girl on earth. I’m the same way. Best meal hands down. Go on and take a peek at this amazing part of the world. It’s so far, yet feels so close to home and to my heart.
AT THE LE LOGIS GREY GOOSE CHATEAU, COGNAC
My days spent in Cognac, France were absolutely divine. I stayed at the Le Logis Grey Goose chateau, one of the most beautiful properties in all of Cognac. I couldn’t stop lusting over it’s stone walls, cozy velvet chairs, and acres of lush vineyard. It felt like I stepped into my very own fairytale. I spent the day biking in my bikini through the town, and nights with the ladies sipping on my favorite vodka cocktail, the Grey Goose Le Fizz: a perfect mix of lemon, sparkling water, and St. Germain elderflower liqueur. Refreshing. Looking back, I miss everything from our decadent homemade meals in the kitchen to late night dance parties in the living room. We thoroughly got to enjoy this beautiful chateau, which welcomes friends of the Grey Goose family to come by and get a taste of the brand’s French roots. And I enjoyed it indeed, spending every sunny moment on the deck by the pool and having all the French bread a girl could eat. I packed loads of soft color palettes that easily blended in with my surroundings. Pastel trousers, soft pinks, a classic beige trench coat, and a ton of bikinis. As for the night, you would find me in silk mandarin style tops, pops of reds, midi dresses, and classic blazers. I even whipped out some sparkle. I could prance around in the French countryside all summer long. It’s sometimes nice to feel far from home, and in one of the most beautiful places in the world.
THE ESSENTIALS IN LAGUNA
It’s been a while since I’ve simply worn a good leather boot and leather jacket. These are items that just stick. They’re the essentials. They’re always right. With fashion constantly evolving and exposing me to new trends and interesting cuts, eccentric designs, and kaleidoscope heels (which I adore of course), I sometimes forget how amazing simplicity and the essentials really are. IRO really nails it when it comes to essentials. Back in California, I lean towards these easier pieces, paired with a breezy floral dress because it’s just the way of Californian living and breathing. It requires zero effort. Recently, I think about California a lot, and my parents, the sun, and the ocean. I miss these family road trips from my hometown of Los Angeles down to Laguna Beach. I can’t wait to do it all again every winter, with nothing to do in the backseat of the car but gaze up into the blue sky. This summer has been a wild and busy one so the calmness of the ocean is always in the back of my mind. I think about the times I would read my book on the front porch as I tan my legs. I think about the open road. I think about the mess the salty air makes of my hair. Home will always have a place in my heart. I’m dedicating this month to spending a little more times outside by the water.
