TIME TO DECORATE

home-decor-nyc04home-decor-nyc-6

This month, I’m totally redecorated my apartment. I’m so excited for a clean new slate. New lamps. New paintings. Rugs. Fluffy pillows. With the new year, I want my home my sanctuary. Right now, it’s super minimal. I’ve got loads of windows and natural light, but have kept things super simple due to loads of traveling and rarely having a second to hit the home department. I steer clear of clutter, but I love unique and stand-out pieces. Handmade dream-catchers, a white fluffy bed, a tufted couch, and candles. ZEN. Take a walk through these amazing living spaces. Clean layouts, with a touch of quirky personality. Luxe but down to the earth. So inspired to take my NYC decor to the next level.

LEATHER BASE

In NYC, you kind of have to master the art of layering. For me, I love having LEATHER as my base before piling on the extras. With a good leather pant, leather glove, and jacket over your sweater…there’s no way wind is getting up in there! By being back in the city, it’s extra hard to avoid being a hermit. You can’t just NOT do anything. There’s always a place to go, a meeting happening downtown, or a friend to catch up with. Thank goodness for indoor markets and the Brooklyn flea. During my off hours, I’m finally getting my apartment back in check. Winter is the best time to get your home feeling extra cozy now isn’t it? LAYER UP.

BEFORE THE NIGHT

It’s funny how quickly I miss home in NYC whenever I’m traveling. The twinkling lights of the city from my windows. The yellow cabs zooming by always… accomodating to our “I need to get there NOW” schedule. The eclectic style and people. The music at the back of the bar. I never get bored, and I never want that to change. My senses always on overdrive. Always overwhelmed (happily), always exploring. It’s the dream. I guess NYC will be my home forever…in between wherever the wind takes me. Things happen when you least expect it. But my favorite hour in NYC is before the night. Just as the sun is going down and the light begins to dim. Like here, on Sullivan Street. An hour to meet with friends before going out into the cobblestone shadowed streets. Who really knows where you will end up or who you’ll meet in a New York minute?!

In between the holiday madness, I’m currently dreaming up New Years. I can’t wait for a brand new start. An even better, brighter new year. Like every new year I say, “how can this one top the last?!” but it always does.
