FROM THE BLOCK// VOLCOM// 90’s GLAM LOOKBOOK

(ACCESSORIES: featuring my own Seafolly hat, Rad & Refined sunglasses, The 2 Bandits hoop earrings, Giles & Brother leather bracelet, Paul & Joe Sister overalls, Gyspy Warrior denim jacket, AERIN LAUDER nude lipstick)
Take a peek inside our latest Volcom lookbook, shot by Dylana Suarez. At first, the makeup was deep burgundy lips, the skirt worn as a tube top, along with a square-ish denim jacket. Right away, we got a super 90’s Glam vibe. We were oh so inspired by the beautiful and badass vibe of JLO along with the supermodels of the time…with their loose, long waves, giant hoop earrings, and over-the-top poses. The crazy reflective sunglasses were just one added touch. It’s all about mixing and matching, and layering, and erm, showing a liiiiiittttle bit of skin! For the last look, I found myself in the Volcom “dotted line” daisy bikini top and bottom, hoop earrings, a baseball cap, and pulling at a rad pair of overall shorts. With just a swipe of nude lips and a little flair in my hair, we created the perfect 90’s GLAM swim look. Definitely what I’d wear if I were a 90’s superstar. x

ROCK YOUR WALK

(American Eagle embroidered jacket, paisley boho top, and jegging jean, H by Hudson boots, Worth & Worth hat, Lacar Studio cuff, Aimee Kestenberg bag)
I’m super picky with my denim…they’ve got to fit nicely on the bum, and of course, they’ve got to be comfortable enough to move and dance in. This gorgeous pair by American Eagle fit like a glove and literally felt so, so soft. I wore this exact jean in our American Eagle #rockyourwalk denim runway video, and also to our huge launch party…because I just loved them so much. For the big night, I layered this amazing AE embroidered patchwork jacket and paisley printed blouse to go along with it. The colors of the jacket remind me of those vintage patchwork blankets my mum would spread across our beds. Too gorgeous for words. I’ll be slipping into this baby as we sneak into fall, no doubt. For the AE video, my strut was “The Gypsy Jump”…clutching on my hat, my kimono flying in the air as I jumped across 3rd street in my distressed denim and red boots. But before we get to that, take a peek at some images from our NYC Times Square launch party! The 3 levels to the store were jam packed…and with all my favorite New Yorkers. With the video playing on the big screen, I found Dylana dancing with a pair of denim…

WARRIOR WOMAN

(Morning Warrior tank (similar), D-ID high waisted jeans (similar), Rachel Zoe tote handbag, The 2 Bandits hoop earrings, Giles & Brother bracelet, Dr. Scholls clog sandals)
It’s already been a whirlwind week…Friday just around the corner, too quickly for me to wrap my head around. I have to send a shout out to WWD and Footwear News for the lovely feature and story this week…such an honor! Between running around the city for work, there are some days I just want to throw on the clogs, the blue jeans, HOOPS, a tee, and call it a day! Here I am snapped just after my latest Volcom photoshoot (coming soon!!), and our shoot was 90’s Glam themed. I kept the hoops on for the entire rest of the afternoon, and they really are something special! Too rad for words! So 90’s and something I’d see my mom wearing when I was a child. She saw me in my clogs and was like “Oh my God, I wore those when I was young!” These are surprisingly comfortable and my little weekend go-tos. Slip on and I’m out the doooooor! Can you say Jane Birkin?! Here’s to Thursday, to Friday, and one much needed weekend.

FIT FOR A QUEEN

(Lauren Moffatt dress, RAEN sunglassesChloĆ© handbag, Modern Vice “carly” boots, Shashi bracelets, Vanessa Mooney cuff, BOERA knuckle ring)

In Paris, I woke up thinking of Marie Antoinette. Versailles. The Princess’s royal summer home. The gold, the dresses, the chandeliers. Everything I’ve seen in Sofia Coppola’s film, I wanted to see in real life. The cakes, the gardens. It was Bastille Day, and I woke up early…mapping out how to get to Versailles on this holiday…where roads were closed and people were already filling the morning streets in preparation of French Independence Day. I had to make it to Versailles this time, I thought. We were running late as usual, and so I threw on a this adorable little Lauren Moffatt number, a pair of white sunnies, slathered on my sunscreen, and called it a morning. Crossing the canal overlooking the Eiffel Tower, we finally caught and cab, and after snoozing in the back seat, we were pulling up to the royal gates before we knew it! This beautiful place! So so big, the palace stretching so far and wide. The shining printed walls, so elegant…with copper and bronze doors, so tall overhead. I didn’t want to leave this magical place. I could only imagine what it was like back in the 1700’s…those out in the hot sun in their elaborate get-ups, an umbrella and fan in hand. Making my way to the garden, I was amazed. The perfect lawn, the little trees…it was a work of art. So serene and peaceful. Grabbing Jordan’s hand, we made the long long walk down to the fountains, lying under a tree to keep cool. I got back to Paris with the white dust covering my shoes and knees, but a head full of dreams. It’s nice feeling like a queen for just one day.
