STAGE WHISPER

blue-paris-6resized

I miss that golden glow that just radiates in Paris. I think of Jane and Serge. Charlotte’s “Stage Whisper.” Always on repeat on my playlist. Romantic and sultry. We found ourself leaning over the baloncy, just to get a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower lighting up, laughing like children and holding our wine. Screaming out words in our horrible French accents. Paris is more about enjoying the quality of life. Sitting in a cafe, and staring out into the street. Long conversations in the back of the nightclub. In America, we call it “straight up chilling.” But in France, it’s just a part of everyday life. Merci beaucoup. I think I finally know how to be Parisian.

SPRING JEAN | 7FAM

7FAM-70S-1RESIZED

The bootcut is coming back full swing thanks to 7 For All Mankind and I’m so excited for a brand new fit: the High Waist Vintage Bootcut. Perfectly sitting high on your waist, with a little bit more flare than the average bootcut. I’m loving everything about this major 70’s comeback. Where blue denim ruled and everything revolved around fun shapes and wild proportions. I’m such a denim girl through and through. Nothing feels more sexy than slipping into your favorite, most flattering pair of jeans. Though my drawers are toppling over with black skinnies, raw hems, and other insane denim…this exaggerated bootcut remains a classic and adds a more sophisticated touch. Spring for me really is all about finding the perfect jean to live in day after day, wash after wash. Something to wear for a walk in the park, to dance in at a gig, and still be able to shimmy into early again the next morning. Experimenting with new and unexpected shapes. Because nothing we do, including what we wear, should be just plain and simple. Take your distressed denim jacket and wear it as your favorite top. Shake it up.

ZADIG ET VOLTAIRE | PFW

zadig-et-voltaire-8resized

Magical Paris! How I miss you so! I was in town with the lovely ZADIG ET VOLTAIRE team for Paris Fashion Week, and they definitely taught me the ropes to being Parisian. Rule 1: Never brush your hair. Rule 2: Smoke cigarettes at the Louvre in the Paris sunlight. Rule 3: It’s totally okay to wear a beret and French kiss. Rule 4: Drink wine until you pass out. Just kidding. But most importantly, have that je ne sais quoi. Zadig Et Voltaire is a brand I’ve loved forever. Their rock n’ roll aesthetic always drew me into their lair. The rock studded boots, feathered hats, and leather overalls. For the show, I went with this stardust maxi and fur vest. Dark, and just what I wanted to slip into the night in along the quaint streets of Montmarte. Blending in so well for their runway show, which also doubled as an underground nightclub complete with guitars, leopard couches, and extra strong liquor. The theme of the night was GROUPIE. Babes who can wear star-studded bras and oversize fur vests to a gig. Smudged eyeliner and all. All I can say is: I’M WITH THE BAND MAN.

LIGHT VS DARK

lightdark7_resized

Today is all about this little photo set featuring my two favorite people ever. Photographed by the amazing Dylana, and featuring jewelry by the best babe in town, Sabrina SL. Two freaking amazing girls, and two of my best friends. We played with what was left of the sun that day in my apartment and did what we love to do best. Take photos. Sabrina arrived with this slinky little nude dress in hand saying “wear this”, and with the halfly shut blinds in my place as the day comes to a closure, we discovered Light vs. Dark. Because we all have those feelings.

“Light . . . airy, innocent, fresh. Dark . . . sexy, smoldering, intense. I think every person has full access to both sides within them, no matter how much they show themselves to be on the exterior.” -Dylana Suarez

When I’m with the people I love, the people who make me laugh, and totally at ease, I discover my Light side. Unable to stop laughing or catch my breath. But we all have those dark moments, no matter how perfect life can be. There’ll always be a shift in balance. Dylana is the Libra. She is the closest thing to balance in my life. She’s like the roof to my house. Stability, my rock. Shielding me, comforting me from my inner storms. Sabrina is my Aries. Passionate, extremely emotional, but a quiet one. She doesn’t really need to say what she’s feeling…we can see it in her eyes. She’s a mother, so her strength and loving grace always makes me feel safe. I’m the Scorpio. We have the ability to hit the extreme, handling things in the most cautious and tip-toes of ways. A powerful emotional force that guides what we do, what we see, how we deal with Light vs Dark. And it’s exactly how our wildest, darkest of thoughts, racing 100 miles per second, finds light. I release it through a song, a photo, and a really good friendship. We can’t have our light without our dark. So let it loose.
