ART OF THE SELFIE// VAMPIRE ACADEMY THE MOVIE

Today is all about the art of the selfie. In celebration of the launch of the film, Vampire Academy, in theatres February 7th, the characters SUCK at selfies. So I’m here giving you a FEW tips on the perfect selfie.
STEP 1: Okay, it’s selfie time. You’re bored, you don’t really know what to do. Best you’re somewhere where nobody isn’t really watching you. Because you have to admit, selfies are awkward and just so not fun more of the time…IN PUBLIC. So let’s sayyyy, you go to the bathroom. Ugh, it’s unattractive and you’ve got hairspray bottles lying around. EVERYWHERE. So there you go, to the seclusion of your own bedroom and a blank wall. Pretend my nerdy WORLD MAP isn’t pictured. So, you stick your tongue out, and end with a pout…and you’re STILL dissatisfied with your photo opp. Time to brush up a bit.
STEP TWO: Lipstick. Something! You need a little color on your face now don’t you! Time to touch up. And you can’t really go wrong with a fun hat. People love hats! Here, I took my chapeau cap for a ride…well, ya, you know what I mean. Feeling a bit better about your selfie now don’t you? Things are looking much, much brighter. Now that you’ve got you lippy on, a cool cap, and a sick moto jacket, it’s posing time. Don’t get tired of yourself just yet!
STEP 3: Okay, you’re tired. You’ve got on your lipstick, your hat does covers up the end-of-the-day mess of hair…and you STILL can’t get a good angle. Maybe some jams will help along with some REALLY amazing headphones. They’re always a hit..oh, and you’ll feel a tiny bit better after that 30 minutes in front of your “i hate you now” cellphone. It’s been staring back at you for too long.
VOILA!
The selfie is complete. And believe it or not, it’s the best you’re going to get!!
Now, stay tuned for what the gals at Vampire Academy, the film, have up their sleeves. It’s bound to be a chock-full of fun! I’ll see you at the theatres! Truth is…they suck at selfies.
See more on GUSH!

LAVAND// STYLING SPRING/SUMMER ’14

LAVAND S/S ’14 lookbook

Shot by: Heidi Edwards
Styling: Natalie Suarez
Model: Daisy Clementine
I had the best time working with Spanish brand, LAVAND, in styling their S/S ’14 lookbook! Shot in Huntington Beach, California, at Grass Monkeys HQ, our outdoor studio was absolutely killer. Besides the grassy studio, we were thinking of the true LAVAND girl. She’s lives by her very own dresscode, combining bold hues and intricate prints into versatile looks that can be worn so many different ways. The collection has so many beautiful floral prints and artistic patterns alongside perfect solid statement pieces. Each print telling a story and taking me to a different place. The woven hats, the printed maxi halter. I’m a total patterns girl and so I loved doing a full head-to-toe print. So chic with full, wavy hair, or the complete oppositite…a STICK STRAIGHT look. I love the volumized to super clean hair looked on our model babette, Daisy. Each look, sophisticated yet still fresh and playful. I happen to just LOVE the first look we shot: a black and red bold printed tank and high waisted skirt, with a fitted cropped cardigan thrown over. Talk about pure perfection with a pair of simple black pumps. I love you Lavand and honestly had too good of a time with such an amazing and fun crew. And umm, talk about MAJOR BABES on set! Model/Musican, Model/Stylist, Model/Photographer. I guess we’re all that girl…ones who like to do just about everything in life. Take a peek at our behind-the-scenes video to take a closer glimpse!

FREE PEOPLE// ABOUT A GIRL FEATURE

Free People feature, written by Amy Soderlind

Shot here in my West Coast home for Free People…my feature just coming out this week! Thank you FP for the amazing write-up! From our 2010 catalog cover shoot…till now, loads have happened and I love the brand….an absolute favorite to my sister Dylana and I! Here, I’m wearing some of my favorite items that I was able to throw into my suitcase from NYC to LA. Jewels by Vanessa Mooney, Muubaa leather jackets, hats by Worth & Worth, and of course, my all time favorite boots, by Modern Vice. A mix of pure perfection that I take everywhere I go. Anyways, my LA home is my little escape. Here’s the mahogony piano I always play when I’m home….our perfectly sunlit living room with the beveled glass. The same dream catcher that’s been in the same place by my bed for years never plans on going anywhere either! Going home is my little treat. I can’t get enough.

It’s crazy how things have changed and how much I’ve grown in just 3 years of living in the city. I’m honestly so thankful for the craziness! I guess, lots of things just happen in a short amount of time here. Even our JETT boot has officially made it’s way to Free People, in perfect silver studs, and distressed leather. Get the Arianna BOOT here!
