WHEN IN NYC, WEAR BLACK

natalie-lim-suarez-coat-2

I recently had dinner with Kenneth Cole and his team at one of my favorite spots off Bowery, The Smile. I love how much thought is put into his work… from his original writing to his attention to detail with each and every piece. Truly authentic and original. Continuing to dress NYC in head-to-toe black perfection. I fell hard for this gorgeous coat. It’s fully lined and probably one of the warmest pieces I own. Luscious. Luxurious. It’s seriously this coat against the brutal cold of NYC. You can trust this bad boy will be out again during NYFW. Maybe with a black turtleneck and jeans. Something so simple will genuinely stand out amongst the crazy colorful outfits and frozen toes in stilettos that will be stomping before street style photographers. Though it’s exciting and always a ton of fun for my sister and I, thinking about fashion month already gives me the chills. Brr! For now, I’ll be tucked away in my family’s house in LA gearing up for amazing 2017…fully re-vamped and energized. I’m ready to take you guys on another exciting adventure. It only gets better from here. I can’t tell how much I love you guys.

HOTEL MAJESTIC KUALA LUMPUR

On my last visit to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia I had the pleasure of staying at the beautiful Hotel Majestic. My grandfather was the manager at the Station Hotel in the 50’s, another historic hotel just across the street, where my mother spent most of her childhood! She had many stories of sneaking off to Hotel Majestic, hiding in the hotel corridors as a kid, making new friends with travelers from around the world. She loved getting a taste of the world outside Malaysia by being in touch with so many international guests. The Majestic opened back in 1932 as one of the most luxurious 5 star hotels in all of Malaysia and to this day, still stays true to both it’s rating and charming old self. It also has a lot of British influence, complete with a gorgeous orchid room serving afternoon high-tea and. It’s amazing staying at a hotel that is so iconic and so in touch with my mother’s childhood. It was like taking a step in the past, with a touch of Old Hollywood glamour. Noodle soup and curry for breakfast ain’t so bad either. Thank you Hotel Majestic for the lovely stay!

FITNESS FOCUS| EQUINOX ALL-ACCESS

As the year comes to a close, I’ve been so caught up with so much last-minute work and holiday travels that I’m dying to get my butt back in the gym. Luckily, I’ve got the Equinox All-Access pass and I’ll be out here at the one in Marina Del Rey to do a little pre-Christmas sweat when I’m away from my home gym in Dumbo, Brooklyn. I want to end the year strong, and begin it strong as well. It should never just be a New Year’s Resolution. It’s a little mental daily goal. A little sweat energizes me, gets my brain waves flowing, and gets me more excited for the day. Getting in a good sweat makes me feel even better putting on my outfit for the day. When my body is in sync and healthy, everything else in my life feels extra in sync as well. Work, relationships, and living in the moment. I even remember to take my vitamins and eat my veggies. It reminds me why I should love my body and the skin I’m in. I never want a workout to feel repetitive, so I’ve thrown in many Equinox classes into my mix to keep myself inspired with every single sweat.

– For my breath: Vinyasa Yoga. It’s what I need as a cool down after a good cardio workout.

– Flexibility and toning: Gold Barre Pilates. Most of the time, I’ll do pilates on a reformer, but like anything, I want to switch things up. Gold Barre Pilates is a combo of barre and pilates, but inspired by ice-skating and the Olympics, something I was super obsessed with growing up. It’s so fun you forget how intense every move is when you have a smile on your face.

-Strength training: MetCon3. This class is super high intensity metabolic training class. It’s a mix of weights and cardio. After this, you’re definitely ready for a hearty brunch with your best friends.

– Core: 30 minute abs. This intense and quick class is perfect in the evenings. It uses weights and is a completely innovative way in working your core to the max. Plus, you learn some really amazing moves you can do at home or on-the-go.

COLLAB OF THE SEASON | RAG & BONE X VUARNET

rag-and-bone-vuarnet-natalie-lim-10

I was looking for the perfect pair of sunglasses with both quality and design and fell madly in love with the rag & bone x Vuarnet collaboration. rag & bone is a NYC classic from their jeans to their beautiful leather jackets. I think the key word to describe them is edgy with a masculine touch. Their love for quality and design shows with every single piece. All made with a little love of course. I was thrilled to hear that they now have these sunglasses to add to my look. They’ve combined their very classic taste in colors with Vaurnet’s French minimalism in design. The blue lenses. Yellow lenses. White frames. Black frames. So chic and universal with that tough-girl attitude. All 100% UV protected, that I can easily take them from the city streets up to the snowy mountains this winter and actually know my sunnies are working in fighting off the harsh rays. I find mirrored lenses to be such a statement look. Best with some very minimal denim on denim. With holiday travels just around the corner, these next 2 weeks are just going to be insanely jammed packed. Christmas in California is going to feel so good. This look definitely brings a bit of that California sunshine to NYC. It’s the reflective lenses and easy denim looks of mine that gives away all of my Californication. Complete with a messy low bun and a great pair of flats. Let’s just get through the NYC holiday rush!
