Sun in her Eyes

It’s already feeling like summer and I’m so, so excited for COLOR and bright bold lips. Summer in NYC means concerts in the park (can you say Ty Segall on a Thursday night?) and dancing in the grass in nothing but a tiny frock and some western boots. Each day here I live for the night…after work meet-ups with the buds down in the LES, just as the city streets are cooling. Here I’m shot at home in California. I do miss being home for work…2 weeks felt pretty long though! I ended up shooting the C&C California Fall ’13 ad campaign before a bright and early flight back to New YOOOOLK. I spent the rest of my California time at home out in the yard, hidden behind my sunglasses, my face turned up in the sun. Hours feel longer when I’m there, driving around town with the windows rolled down, popscicle in hand. The view isn’t so bad either. Flowers are everywhere. I always say…”LA is all about FLOWER POWER.” There really is some of the most beautiful lush in the Golden State. Summertime baby pink roses bud around the borders of my parent’s home. I’m happy right now that I’m not living out of a suitcase, though I have some killer travel plans coming up in the next month. I’m literally bringing out the passport as we speak! Here’s to summertime fun and neverending inspiration.

Behind the Scenes: DKNY Fragrances

(Behind the Scenes with DKNY)
We just recently wrapped our DKNY Fragrances shoot! As DKNY’s Core Girl, I think I’ve gotten to play with just about every single “Be Delicious” and “pureDKNY” scent. Every vanilla, every rose. I’m clearly obsessed. I left our shoot smelling like a mix of apples, vanilla, verbana, and rose thanks to having to spritz myself during each take! Oh, and this time around, we even snapped up some shots in nothing but a little towel. Luckily, there weren’t any towel slips…well, maybe. There was definitely that “woops, I accidentally sprayed myself in the eye!” moment (luckily, I was totally fine!) Anyways, it was if the apple was following me around everywhere…at home in bed, around the city. It may be my absolute favorite bottle, signifying the city that’s taken me in with open arms, embraced me, and given me a whole new life. I’m so excited to see the final results. Shot by one of my favorite photographers, Carmen Chan, who I’ve worked with so many times throughout my modeling days, our first being back in LA for campaign over 3 years ago. I’m just so happy she came all the way from Hong Kong for our shoot this past week. I love all the cool and crazy girls I always get to work with.
Stay tuned as these images slowly get released throughout the year!

I love the 80’s!

Yes, I love the 80’s. When acid washed denim jackets ruled, and just as hard as the classic striped turtleneck. This denim jacket is the bad boy I brought in to the factory…sewing up it’s tearing sleeves, only to end up stitching American Flag leather down it’s spine. Talk about one SICK idea. Anyways, Michael Jackson is still on my party playlist…but of course with some Devonte Hynes thrown in. Those 80’s inspired beats keep me going and make me want to dance all night long. Oh, and meet my absolute new love! This LACAR Studio cuff earring. Yep, it only goes on my right ear and it’s completely badass. Something I’d find on a rebel chick on the corner of Brick Lane…smoking a cigarette, and about to cause a bit of trouble. (I miss you London!) How can one little piece of jewelry totally transform my mood. I even wear it with a tiny girly dress just to make it more me. For some reason I loved this look so much I wore it two days..IN A ROW. That is, before summer hit NYC a month in advance. Bye bye turtleneck, HELLO BANANA BOOT. I will definitely be kicking into summer with these bad boys. Summer doesn’t ever stop me from wearing booties…and lord knows the boyfriend makes the best ones.

Banana Boot

A East Hampton weekend full of gloom and rain needed some real uplifting. I packed a ton of colors in preparation! Rainbow striped perfection by Lauren Moffatt and those YELLOW, YELLOW Modern Vice “Bond” BOOTIES I’ve always had my eyes on! Talk about gorgeous. I’ve wanted them every since I saw a sample over at my boyfriend’s factory just sitting on his desk. The natural sole, supple leather, and in the most beautiful “banana” shade I’ve ever seen! These beauties were a little something the boy brought home just before our getaway, the smell of them so fresh and straight off the cobbler’s hands. My shoe collection is ever growing, and already, I think I’m going to need a bigger apartment…or maybe a floor to ceiling rack! Anyways, I already miss our little East Hampton abode. Those long drives along the water, overlooking our white balcony, and curling up for cozy breakfasts in the diner off the Montauk coast. So necessary when you live in literally a concrete jungle. I am so craving another slow and long weekend after what’s been a whirlwind week. We’re expanding the JETT collection, and I’ve still managed to fit in those full day shoots in the mix. It’s those late night parties that just happen to fall on a workday that make weeks in the city feel all the more intense! Finally, I am having a quiet Sunday morning…that is, until we’re off to Bushwick for their one crazy art fest that the boys are throwing. I’m already showering and getting ready. People always ask me “how do you always keep going?”… and I guess the only answer is that I just like life that way, when excitment and discovery doesn’t really stop.
