Sparkles on the Street

I had to take a break yesterday from fashion week for a family tradition, CHINESE NEW YEAR! Gong Xi Fa Choy everyone!!! Wishing you all good health, prosperity, and lots and lots of LOVE. I’m half Chinese, and so every year since I was a baby, my parents would take Dylana and I down to Chinatown, with boba milk teas and red bean buns as snacks in the backseat. We’d watch the colorful dancing dragons as we sat in little sundresses to blow confetti on the streets, before ending our day downing jasmine tea and eating fried rice and dumplings tucked away at our favorite little Chinese joint. Still, to this day, I always keep my fortune cookies in a secret place that go with me everywhere. This year’s Chinese New Year for me was a little bit different! I left Lincoln Center early this Sunday to head downtown, just as Chinatown was slowly quieting down after the long day of celebration and crowded streets. Sparkles covered the floor. The snow’s turned to slush, and honestly, the place looked insane. But still, it was full of color and life…and the little Chinese women greeting me “Gong xi fa choy!” as I walked down the street. I had to say, I left smiling and laughing with my sister and boyfriend as we tried to speak cantonese back. During fashion week, it’s sort of necessary to step out and breath normal life again. And I love every minute of it.
For now, I’m currently flipping through all of my NYFW snapshots. Till I get those up, my Instagram (natalieoffduty) and Vine will keep you in the loop!!

Over the Hills We Go

Effortless Edge on the Samsung Galaxy Note II
I’m in the midst of crazy New York fashion week, and yep, I barely have had a moment to breath!! From running from show to show in the snow(and in platforms!) I’ve been running in and out of our car, with frozen fingers and toes! But I have to admit, it’s still fun once this season rolls along each year. Dylana’s in town, and right now, we’re finally taken a break from Lincoln Center and we’re back at my home in the East Village, resting on the couch. Candles are lit, and we’ve got music blasting. Another long night out is on our itinerary off at the BCBGMaxazria party tonight! I can barely think of what to wear anymore, especially with the snow. Right now, I’ve been shielding myself with an oversize shearling coat, long maxis, and really any kind of boot that I won’t slip in! I cannot wait to share with you my NYFW adventures and photos. Luckily, I’ve had some pretty killer seats. Here I’m snapped in Brooklyn, before the boyfriend went to get yet another tattoo (yikers!) and guess what, I’m all about the prairie dresses. This one is Bcbgmaxazria, and believe me, you’re going to love all the goodies I picked out for fashion week from their headquarters. We’re talkin hot leather trousers and little printed suede jackets. I even ran into everyone I used to shoot with at BCBGeneration backstage at the show. Lately, I’ve just been living in dream land…and no matter what the weather, I’m still that girl walking out of my building in a floorlength printed dress and hat, all while the doorman thinks I must be completely insane.
For now, check out my Polyvore x Samsung Galaxy Note II set, and enter the contest! Here I am featured for “Effortless Edge” with a pair of my boyfriend’s Modern Vice boots, Saint Laurent hat, along with a little Kenzo action thrown into the mix!

Bumming It

(Vintage Coat, Ainsley velvet  blazer, American Rag striped blouse, Current + Elliot “Panhand” boyfriend jeans, Vintage Chanel, “Natalie + Dylana Suarez x Modern Vice VINTAGE JETT boot, Karen London rings)
Patched up knees, coats the size of a wooly-mammoth, and beanies. Yes, it’s winter and almost so unbearably cold that all I feel like doing is bumming it. Everything is suddenly oversize and it’s completely acceptable to swim in your jeans (well, when they’re Current Elliot). Every single day I have to throw that one extra piece over me just to get to the subway. And with fashion week, all I really want to be do is run from show to show in little frocks and cute leather jackets! Believe me, I’ve already stepped out in little things that are so NOT winter appropriate. It’s nearly been day 1 to fashion week and already there’s event after event, drink after drink, and all I want to do is curl up in a ball and take a cat nap. For now, I’ll be around Lincoln Center. First stop? BCBG, and ending tonight at Kenneth Cole. See you there!

PureDKNY: A Drop of Rose

pureDKNY, shot by Carmen Chan

I’m secretly in love with perfume. I used to always steal my mom’s bottles back home, try mixing them, and making them my own. Now, I keep only a few of my signature scents with me wherever I travel. At the moment, all I’ve been spritzing on each morning is pureDKNY’s Drop of Rose perfume. It’s currently sitting in my new apartment, right next to my green DKNY “Be Delicious” scent…both almost down to their last spritz’s! I use them so much, it’s nuts! But this past month, the clean and simple scent of A Drop of Rose has been lurring me into it’s world. I’ve always been a roses girl…and it’s almost a must to have some pretty fresh flowers in the house. It’s basically my apartment in a bottle…I am addicted to the scent of fresh flowers. I just spray a teeny tiny bit on my wrist and dab a little behind my ears (sometimes I spray my sheets) and I’m good to go. I love all things subtle and beautiful when I’m in my own little world.

See me for DKNY Fragrances, and shop pureDKNY, and donate to

CARE – a leading humanitarian organization to help lift women out of global poverty, in partnership with DKNY, and help women in need 🙂
