THE CLASSIC DENIM SKIRT 2 WAYS | KATE SPADE NEW YORK

kate-spade-natalie-suarez-denim-skirt-dressing-room-18-6518

It’s obvious that a high waisted denim midi never ever goes out of style. Meet my favorite by Kate Spade New York. I keep my wardrobe super minimal now. Keeping the classic pieces, like this denim a-line skirt, to style every which way. I first gave it a tiny touch of Upper East Side. Buttoned up. Classic. A little embellishment. A bit girly, but with my tough-girl daily jewels. It’s fun switching up your style every once in a while, but still keeping it true to yourself and your attitude. Otherwise, I just get super bored. Now how cute are the pink shoes with glittered block heel? I am going to be living in them come fall.

Then, there’s this other side of me that’s inspired by the 50’s. Grease Lightning. The pink ladies. A studded belt, floral neck scarf, and black + white moto jacket. A look you want to hop in the back of a 1950’s red mustang with your hot boyfriend. I pulled it together with ruffled Kate Spade New York blouse. Classic. Let out your girly side one of these days ladies.

PARTY ON TOP. CASUAL ON THE BOTTOM | TRETORN

tretorn-natalie-suarez-1-6155

I literally call this look “party on top…casual on the bottom.” It’s rare I find a sneaker that I absolutely love. One that is sleek and classic, and a bit vintage. Tretorn‘s classic sneaker is super retro-inspired. It’s a shoe my Mom and Dad would have worn together in one of their classic 70’s flashbacks complete with neon sport shorts and two matching bikes. But I love this sneaker with a dramatic party on the top. I went with a bold billowing off-shoulder blouse, and some vintage inspired cropped flares. As I’ve grown older, I realized that less is more. You never need to over-style anything ever again ladies.

See my feature on WhoWhatWear and shop the Tretorn “Rawlins” sneaker.

A GLASS OF SUNSHINE

vancouver-canada-natalie-suarez-travel-7-0009

The first thing I thought once I arrived in Vancouver was…”I could totally live here!” It’s rare I say that about any city since I’m so New York and so California. But Vancouver has a bit of both embedded in it. There’s the city glass sky scrapers. Then there is the up-and-coming food scene that reminds me so much of the cute little restaurants like here in Dumbo, Brooklyn. Then there are the beaches and beautiful views and open spaces much like Los Angeles. Not to mention a sunset unlike any other! It’s nice having the best of both worlds all in one special place. It was a foggy morning and the first thing we did on our day off was bike the stunning Stanley Park. Any place where you can travel entirely by bike is pretty amazing. Hopping on a bike is freedom. The freedom of your hair blowing in the wind. Feeling totally energized and refreshed. Nothing beats a long, exhilarating bike ride and then sitting down with friends for a good beer. Go to 33 Acres brewery and get a glass of Sunshine.

GO TO:

1. 33 Acres Brewery (15 West 8th Ave): Super rad locals spot for booze.

2. Stanley State Park: Bike the entire park early in the AM to see the fog roll in.

3. The Locavore Food Truck: On a farm in Squamish outside the city, on the road to Whistler. The perfect little pit-stop for some farm-fresh paninis.

4. Lighthouse Park: On the North Shore. Make a picnic with friends and sit high overlooking the cliffs.

5. AnnaLena (1809 West 1st Avenue): Super chic spot in the city. Go here for dinner and get the buttermilk fried chicken.

6. Scandinave Spa Whistler: Totally worth the 2-3 hour scenic drive from the city! It’s the most beautiful outdoor spa ever. You jump from all the different plunge pools. From cold to hot, to the steam room, to the nap room. Treat yo-self.

LIFE ON THE RUN | SAUCONY

saucony-fitness-natalie-suarez-9-1969

Saucony goes way back with me. They were the dance team’s sneakers back in school. I wore them everywhere. Saucony immediately brings back images from dance competitions to recitals to 7 a.m. practices. Though dance has always been one of my main way to release some energy, I’ve found that running in between everything else that I do like pilates, barre, and kickboxing helps to mix things up. You never really want to get bored when working out. And your workout gear should be a lot less boring too. If you see the girl in the full on plaid sports bra and yoga pant down by the Brooklyn Bridge with her headphones in? Yes, that’s me. Hiding under a grey hoodie at the Dumbo park for a picnic with friends…yep, me. Bright pink sneakers you can spot from a mile away on the subway? Yep, me. Can we talk about how awesome they feel? It’s like you have wings and can fly, I am not even kidding. Saucony’s new collection, Life on the Run, is about exactly that. From going from workout to hangout. Being able to immediately throw on that hoodie and head to brunch. To go from pilates class straight to my next photoshoot in the city. That’s exactly what your workout gear should be: classic and transitional. Because every single day we’re transitioning between so many different things. From barre to lunch meetings to meeting up with friends. Days in my yoga pants are honestly the best…and they’re flattering.

Life on the Run is about jogging first thing after landing home from the airport. Immediately getting in tune with your body with every workout. Sweating out whatever my body took in the night before. Life on the Run is about getting excited and pumped for the day. Thinking up new ideas for whatever you’re working on. With every run I begin to appreciate New York City more and more. So keep on going babes. Don’t stop. Be comfortable and confident in what you wear. And keep doing whatever motivates you to get up every single morning and kick butt.
