My sneaker of choice are the REEF Rovers. They are EXTREMELY comfortable, and made for running to the beach and strolling the backroads of Brooklyn. My REEF California dream team was in town, not just for our shoot, but for the M.W x REEF celebration! Japanese designer Masafumi Watanabe’s capsule collection for REEF is stellar. Working with beautiful prints, the Rovers in the collection are now lined with his signature designs. Oh, and who doesn’t love a good corduroy sneaker?! Though I wear these with bikinis all summer long, I love to give them a retro feel for OFF DUTY days in the city. Striped tee, leather mini, and some round sunnies.

Just after a night of dancing at Kinfolk to celebrate in Brooklyn, we had an early start the next day. Shooting our Brooklyn and Montauk story, #justpassingthrough with pro-surfer Luke Davis! Take a sneak peek into our travels below.

JUST PASSING THROUGH | REEF

I officially own the Reef “rover” sneaker in every colorway. I survived Coachella with a daily switch-a-roo. Dancing my butt off in the desert heat. My black Rovers a classic, so I’ve worn them to perfection, but I love an unexpected pop of blue. But seriously, I cannot stress how comfortable they are. I have a little secret: I don’t even have to wear socks with them. They’re made for surfers, desert wanders, city hoppers, and everyone in between. In the coolest of places, and the hottest…aka PALM SPRINGS. Coachella this year felt a bit different from the rest. Less stressful, more time by the pool, and a lot less hectic getting to and from the festival. So long as I got to hear the sultry tones of alt-j, and Jack White’s “Ick Thump,” I was good to go. There may have been one point where I was asleep on the field, my head on my sister’s lap, waiting for the headliner, and just totally okay with it. Here’s to living the nomad life.

Summer is officially on my mind. And this season, I’m doing things a little differently. I’ve traded in my slip-on sandals for this breathable new sneaker by Reef: the ROVER. I grew up with the California label, known for it’s killer surf vibe and effortless style. Trust me, California girls do it better. Everything’s made for digging your feet in the sand, and running to and from the next wave. With festival season rapidly approaching (see you at COACHELLA) I’ve been looking for the perfect shoe to dance the night away in the desert sand. Who said sneakers were only for the treadmill?! I like to style the Reef Rover with floral prints and mini dresses, layered with bikinis and sunhats. I can’t explain how lightweight and amazing this sneaker really is. Sleek and simple, it goes with everything. Now give me a pina colada, a bottle of sunscreen, and my shortest denim shorts. California, here we come.
