HELLO FASHION MONTH

nyfw-feb-2016-natalie-suarez-21

Fashion month is a frenzy of color, textures, and flashing lights. Though I can’t get enough of it, I’m totally okay to be slipping away to sunny Los Angeles this (for a super rad shoot…stay tuned). But yes, I was getting a little too excited for Milan! Next season I suppose!

It’s an excuse to wear your craziest, chicest outfits and strut the sh*t out of the downtown Manhattan streets. Literally, your world becomes your runway. Yes everyone wants to snap you picture. (um, duh?!) But really, it’s funny how the front row sometimes overshadows the shows. It’s like “let’s get this show on the road! Do we have to stare at Kim K in section C?” Everyone has a schedule. Everyone’s got somewhere to go, someone to meet. “What are you doing tonight?” Me, well, club bed of course. New York dipped to 5 degrees. Sure we froze our bums off. But what better excuse to bust out the fur coats, berets, and booties! A reason to wear a luxurious fur coat! My pals and I ended up looking like a tall group of wooly mammoths.

Anyways, I was super inspired by Coach, Alice & Olivia, and Libertine (as always). It’s official. The 70’s will never go away. 70’s prints and colors, in modern sophisticated silhouettes. Go crazy girls. Eclectic, rebellious attitude is always in style.

SISTER SWIRLS – NYC to SEOUL

fashion-month-natalie-suarez-5

Dylana and I love to take our 70’s inspired favorites and mix it in with our minimals. I loved this look from NYFW. It’s cozy enough to wear time and time again. Those psychadelic swirls, nubby leather coats, and Dy’s extra pink sunnies. I’m currently in SEOUL, South Korea, for their fashion week (who would have thought it’d still be fashion week in the month of October?!) and I’m super inspired by what we’ve been seeing on the runways. Eclectic layering. Boyish blazers. Simplistic street style. There’s everything here. But what I’m loving most is the Korean bbq and killer face masks (ever heard of a broccoli or snail muccus face mask?!) Stay tuned.

EVERYTHING OVERSIZE

nyfw-natalie-suarez-9

This may be one of my favorite looks from fashion week, mostly because everything was extremely oversized. But most of all, extremely comfortable. And I want to wear it again because I just feel awesome in it. My friend Ashley, founder of the shop ANTHOM, always says she picks things to wear that make her think “this is how I want to live my life.” It’s true. We should only choose to wear what makes you feel so damn good that you feel you can conquer anything.

Wearing sneakers to the shows admidst a sea of high heels now may be the most effortless thing ever. And this gorgeous leather duster and wide-leg pant just feel so luxe. Every fashion week I whip out my Breelayne because her eclectic but classic styles always draw my attention. I dressed everything down with my favorite t-shirt that I sleep in and go out in. Nude hues are everywhere this fall, and I like to give mine a bit of a pop. With black and whites, and a bright stained berry lip by Stila (I swear by their cosmetics). I’m sure this duster will be popping up on the blog again. I mean, it’s that yummy.

For now, I’m planning my upcoming travels. Seoul – San Francisco – LA.

THE METALLIC SUIT | NYFW

jill-stuart-natalie-suarez-4

I stepped out in this glittering ensemble in the morning of NYFW, and woah, did I reflect off the sun with full force. Thank you Jill Stuart for fitting me into this rock n’ roll set just before the show! When I went to go meet my sister Dylana, the first thing she said was “woah, that is super Mick Jagger.” This metallic striped blazer and skirt were made for shimmying on stage and twinkling under the disco ball. So I kept the rest simple with a leather choker, and simple lace bodysuit. Jill’s show was just everything I’d want for next spring. Pastel silks, lace jumpsuits, and beautiful off the shoulder ruffled tops. Romantic, but with that cool-girl edge.
