SXSW: Speak to the Wind

(GUESS shorts, Paige Denim deconstructed shirt, Free People cardigan and hat, Ax+ Apple kaleiodoscope ring, Black Water Moon rings, Vintage Shoe Co. “Covington” boots)
I was just in a vintage shop, trying on a cowboy hat, and it brought back a flood of SXSW memories. Memories of Austin, the music, the people, the SUN. I came home and rediscovered these lost images on my camera. The sunsets bouncing off the house of kids, the long lines outside of Hotel Vegas, the beer bottles lining the stage. I loved some Southern livin’, even if it were only for less than a week. Rio Rita was our hideout throughout the day. To charge up…to giggle…to down coffee before the next gig at midnight. I’ll never forget the retro orange couches, and woven lanterns. To stay cool, I tore up the town in these embroidered denim shorts. Slightly loose, and a bit low on my hips, they were perfect with only a denim shirt and extra long cardigan…for making my way through the crazy town. My woven hat is now imperfectly perfect, and I’m desperately seeking my next hat item for Coachella! I’ve been on the lookout for a desert hat, and I think I’ve just about found one.
Our nights slowly, but surely did come to a close. I finally got to see my British luvs Citizens! and dance at the top of the W, before nearly falling asleep on a patio chair at the Gypsy Lounge. It was only till Kelsea told me to snap out of it that I finally got up, because before we knew it, it was nearly 1:30 am, just the start of the night’s big GUESS party at VEVO Live! Yes, I had to go, I mean my GUESS festival images from our shoot were displayed everyone on the screens, flashing in the night. Of course I’m getting up and going, I told myself. Luckily, we made the walk over late into the night, and it was fantastic. Festival clothing were blowing in the wind, a Japanese taco truck kept me alive, and Tito’s Vodka lined the bar. I tried my hardest to take an image of my GUESS photos with my phone! By 6 in the morning, we were headed home, and everything was a blur!
But here it is! My GUESS festival shoot, on the screens of the night’s GUESS event!

Conscious Lace

There really is nothing better than one full-on lace ensemble…little beige buttons on my cuffs and shoulders, and the little many embroidered details. This long gown is part of H&M’s Conscious Exclusive collection, in working on building sustainable fashion, and I have to say, it’s a full blown heartthrob of a dress! I love a good party collection made with organic cotton, recycled polyester, and other materials recycled to perfection. This piece in particular reminds me of the beige collection of vintage lace blouses I’ve stocked up at home in LA. And no, the marriage rumors aren’t really true heheh (though darn, this would be rad with a flower crown at a beach wedding no?!), but I see this dress being taken somewhere pretty…London, Paris, who knows where else, slowly trailing behind me in the night. Just don’t spill a drink on me! It’s something I myself may wear with a bootie, but also something that’s so red carpet, I could take it to a special event with a good heel, and knock my beau’s socks off. It’s that good! For now, I’m dreaming in lace, and wishing for some nyc sun…as the sky’s been looking dreary all week.
Still, you too can get your pretty party dress on, in an eco-friendly way, when you follow me and H&M on Instagram, and upload your best Red Carpet look with the hashtag: #HMConsciousLace to win a piece from this collection!

A Sweet Escape

(Armani Exchange swimsuit, The 2 Bandits cuffs/ surf ring, Vanessa Mooney ring, Free People plaid skirt)
Okay, so us in NYC are really, really missing the sun right about now!! Ugh, Miami warmth was too good, and so much needed!!! In town for Armani Exchange, I wanted any excuse to put on this A/X one-piece suit. It’s black, white, and fit like a dream. During the A/X Music Lounge, I snuck away to the bathroom to put it on, and make my way to the beach, take a break, and lie under an umbrella before our day ended. Bodies were lathered in oil, and everywhere I turned, everyone was that perfect golden brown. I, of course, being the palest girl on the beach, slathering on sunscreen. I did catch a good amount of sun before the last show, and before the team and I were running back to our hotel in the evening, sans a taxi, in the hot pouring rain! I wasn’t sure with work if I’d even be able to make it to the beach, so all I had were some chunky lace-up boots! And so I came back to my room, and jumped on my bed, with sand in my shoes, some soaking socks, and of course, my bangs stuck to my forehead. But the craziness was all worth it! Miami is a beautiful little escape, full of sunshine and happiness. There were loud tunes at every hotel on the boardwalk, and of course, I had only a light suitcase, filled with swimwear, and little else. I hate having to unpack my damp swimsuits, and mini-dresses and trade them in for giant coats and oversize scarves in the beginning of what is supposed to be Spring! Bring it on summer..I’m waiting for you!!

SXSW: Rock n’ Roll Blues

(GUESS cargo vest, RVCA overalls, Chaser Brand tank, Quay sunglasses, Free People hat, Giles + Brother cuffs, Vanessa Mooney necklace, “Natalie + Dylana Suarez x Modern Vice” JETT Messenger bag and Vintage JETT boot)

God, I really do miss Austin! That whole 60’s vibe…the boys with long hair, dancing front row at every show, the sounds of the electric guitar. It’s addicting. I’m now back in NYC walking down the street, still thinking of the shows, and how I wish life were a constant rock concert…with music everywhere I turn. By the time I left Austin, my wrists were covered in bands, my hands inked with stamps of eagles and birds, and literally a head full of new music. I’ve got one new love I discovered at sxsw, SPINDRIFT. It’s very much desert western rock. Every time I hear “Speak to the Wind” I imagine myself strolling down a deserted dusty road, kicking sand with my boots. Anyways, I couldn’t be happier with my GUESS takeover, representing that “on the road” festival vibe with such an iconic brand. Here I’m sporting the killer cargo vest…it’s super distressed and I love it over a great overall and rock tee. Effortless festival style is what I live for. I don’t mind being out all day, getting a little grimy, to see some gigs in the hot sun. It’s freezing back here in NYC, and already I’ve forgotten how to dress for the snow and rain. I miss just getting to throw on a denim jacket and be good to go. But it’s only a few hours till I’m off to my warm next destination, MIAMI, for work for the next few days.

It’ll be my first time in the beach-y city, so follow all the craziness on my Instagram!
