INTO THE PLEAT

(Eleven Paris tee, Jessica Faulkner pleated skirt, Ralph Lauren trenchcoat, Kenneth Cole handbag, Hunter Boots wellies, The 2 Bandits accessories)
So the pleated miniskirt is too darn cute to resist. I’ve been channeling CHER from Clueless all weekend, and I can’t seem to stop pairing these babies with a good high boot or over-the-knee socks. I’ve got the pleated mini in pink, black…and this one, beige and checkered to perfection, just happens to be one of my favorites. I love it with a basic oversize tank, bare legs, and a tan trench. I had on my wellies to protect me from the black clouds rolling above…sure to bring a super heavy rain over the city. I was nearly running on home in hopes of staying dry. But not quick enough. I got caught in the storm down Bowery, soaking in my perfectly pleated mini squeling. AS. IF.

THE KINFOLK// CONCORD GRAPE

My latest obsession is KINFOLK…yep, that beautiful and oh so CHIC magazine on how to live well (oh, and eat incredibly well too!) My sister, a major hippie, is the one who introduced me to them. Kinfolk’s based out of Portland, Oregan, where organic should be the only thing they’ll serve on their plates, and appreciating the beauty of the world is the latest obsession. Their films always keep me captivated each weekend. That blueberry picking story just inspired me to get back in the car back upstate and pick up even more fresh fruits (another fanastic activity next to apple picking, my new favorite sport hehe!) This day, Dylana and I made our way to Brooklyn for one of their NYC weekend cooking workshops. Nope, I can’t cook at all, so the invitation from our pals at Citizens of Humanity, sounded like just what I needed to spice up my life! Not quite sure how it’s happened when my Mum is a pro chef. I guess I was too busy in my room scouring magazines before making my way to the kitchen table each night growing up. Dylana and I stepped into this little workshop just as it was beginning and the smell of something sweet hit me over the head. It was CONCORD GRAPE. Oh so delicoius and fresh, the smell overtaking the entire kitchen. We were working with Kelly of Sweet Deliverance, and she helped us make our concord grape JAM. Not too much sugar, lime, and just the right amout of pektin (the first time I’ve ever really used the term) after mashing up the grapes, leaving the skin and all. After a while of it churning and churning in the heated pots, it was finally ready to cool and take home. Currently spreading this badboy all over my waffles as we speak. Here’s to Sunday perfection and some delicioussss sweetness in a jar!

MY SHARONA

(Free People overalls, mesh shirt (similar), and boots)
Back behind the scenes with my shoot with Free People. BABETTES GALORE! Shot at Milk Studios, I had a little down time, and sat in the park just off the water during my break. Those bright orange iconic chairs…always where I go whenever I’m working at MILK or whenever I’m taking that NYFW coffee break. Here I am snapped with babes Xiu and Crystal Renn just outside the studio…all dressed like the badasses that they are..looking ready to kick some SERIOUS BUTT! Like a girlband about to skate off to their next gig. The plaids and vevlets all layered up to perfection. I was in a patchworked slouchy overall, a white laced top, and a cut-out western boot for the shot. The look was already just so ME that I could have easily walked on home in that little get-up. PURPLE ON PURPLE and a swipe of burgundy matte lipstick. I love.

TIMBERLAND FALL ’13 CAMPAIGN// MARK MAKERS

Take a peek inside my latest TIMBERLAND Fall ’13 campaign shoot! The team was super rad. The day of the shoot was extra greay and gloomy. The rain constantly on and off. The Timberland team and I had our giant van for shelter in as we went from location to location. I love the puddles just off Bleeker Street and the rain tricking down the window to my favorite cafe. A typical NYC day. Knee-high socks and oversize cardigans totally necessary. The city grey, quiet, and oh so mysterious. The photo team huddled under the biggest umbrella I’ve ever seen. We began our day filming in my apartment…I ended up serenading everyone in my bedroom before beginning our adventures on location hehe! Talk about completely awkward yet awesome. I guess I got used to singing on the spot. Anyways, I love having a say in the wardrobe. I got to mix and match my top 3 favorite boots. I loved the lace-up heel with some grey tights, a studded skirt, and Timb’s leather jacket…of course, with a sick fur vest thrown on top. Reds, browns, and greys happen to be my fall color palette at the moment. For the super tall “Savin Hill” boot, I liked it with salmon jean tucked in, and an over the knee flowing dress and cardigan. A look I an easily take from the city to the country. That look may be my favorite. And last but not least, the classic lace-up boot with one super short striped mini with an oversize cargo jacket, and thick thick knee socks that show just the right amount of leg. Timberland, you never disappoint. Thank you for having me as your MARK MAKER. I guess I’m doing something right. Our film just played again the amazing Wild Nothing band out in Brooklyn the other night. Talk about so so amazing and unforgettable. Now, I just can’t stop thinking of the classic yellow work boot. I want one. 🙂
