BRICK LANE// BEEP BEEP

LONDON, February 2014// all photographs by me
BEEP BEEP! COMING THROUGH! London is best for jetting around in your orange bippy down Brick Lane and past the flower market…causing quite the commotion. London is where I’d live if I weren’t an American born and raised in LA, transplanted into crazy NYC. It’s got the charm. It’s got the music. It’s got the absolute beauty…and it’s got the gloomy, rainy days. All of which I love, especially when the smells of exotic foods float past you through the market. Purple tulips here, red roses over there…so fresh, you just wish you’d had plucked them from your very own garden. Ready to set perfectly on your kitchen table. London is made for these easy-going types of moments on a Sunday. A super beautiful and rare, SUNNY day in the UK before I boarded my butt on a plane back to the grinde of NYC life. There are times I wish I were still walking the cobblestone streets through the tunnels, listening to the music from the organ on the street. The grit and grime, and witty sense of humour (plus the accenet) gets me every time I visit.

But there are loads more…including sick dance moves and full-on footage of festivals screaming thanks to my leading ladies, Dylana and Kiara. Take a peek a follow my profile. THE CROCHET AFFECT// LULUAS AT COACHELLA

(Siwy Denim vest, Lulu’s dress tunic and sunglasses, BCBGeneration crochet pants and sandals, Marie Turnor handbag, Vanessa Mooney choker, The 2 Bandits earrings, Dannijo cuff)
There’s something I love about Palm Springs. That dry desert air, the sun against the concrete buildings….the art deco homes and extra square swimming pools. The mountains look so close you could nearly touch it. Like a painting. Everything’s a bit old school which I love. Flat. With that and the heat, I wear cotton. Lots of it. Here, I took a Lulu’s dress, wore it as a tunic, and threw it over a crochet flared pant! I’m a bit too tall sometimes for extra short minidresses, that I always end up making the most of them by continuing to wear them as tops. Then there is the denim. My SIWY DENIM ad campaign is officially out (I will be releasing it soon!) and ever since, I’ve stocked up on all of my favorites in celebration this Coachella. In between laying out in the sun, attending the festival, and jumping in the hot tub at 2 in the morning, I’d say we had a pretty amazing time getting dressed for it all. Who knew we’d had packed for nearly a month for a weekend trip?! I can definitely say our hotel room was packed with suitcases and bathing suits tossed on the bathroom floor. It’s true, us girls are crazy. But we had a killer time taking pictures off the beaten path. That’s what girlfriends are for!

Thanks to VOGUE, Harper’s BAZAAR, Lucky Magazine, and WWD for capturing me at the festival! Until next year!

UNDER THE RAINBOW// LULUS AT COACHELLA

(Lulu’s white kimono and sunglasses, SIWY denim boyfriend jeans, BCBGeneration fringe top, Marie Turnor backpack, Vanessa Mooney necklace, MODERN VICE biker boots)
After Coachella, you sort of feel you need a vacation. This is me right now…totally POOPED. But I absolutely LOVE, LOVE festival season. The quick and easy way of throwing on looks…playing with crazy layers of lace, fringe, and tie-dye. It’s the music, the rock n’ roll, and it’s the dirt and dust that gets me going….inspiring me to get dressed in the morning. “What am I not afraid to get dirty in?!” and “Why is my suitcase once again overflowing?” I was daring this year. Sporting white on white as I sat down on the grass…my Lulu’s floorlength kimono like my wings for the night, forever blowing in the wind behind me as I ran from tent to tent in the dark.
Luckily, work has brought me to California, my hometown, yet again. Waking up at the Sunset Tower hotel, I was already jetlagged, but I was SOOO ready for a weekend getaway, hopping first thing in the car. And away we went to Palm Springs, picking up my sister along the way! Coachella always feel like the longest weekend of my life. And when it’s all over, you just wish you could start all over again, but maybe just giving yourself a few more minutes by the pool! There’s that time just when the sun is going down that is just magical in Indio. I could lay and doze off, looking to the clouds as the sun fades away. We drove early Friday morning under the desert sun…our feather headresses and shoes thrown into the backseat of our car. The lineup schedule shining off our phones. I had Lana Del Rey, Foxygen, Arcade Fire, and Ty Segall on my mind…with a sprinkle of Kid Cudi and Pharrell to make the festival EXTRA insane. I’ve walked away from Coachella sleepless yet once again, still inspired. A little desert getaway does a body good. BORN TO DIE currently on repeat tonight because that particular Lana album is the best way to ring in another amazing summer. Goodnight Los Angeles.
