ELECTRIFY GETAWAYS: DUNTON HOT SPRINGS PART 1

I have to pinch myself after I visit a place as beautiful as Dunton Hot Springs. Tucked away in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, you feel far from home yet in the best way possible. It’s such a luxury to be able to travel to such remote, gorgeous locations. Dunton Hot Springs was a mining enclave back in it’s day. This little ghost town has since transformed into one of the most desired and luxurious getaways in Colorado. It feels both exclusive and equally as welcoming thanks to it’s wonderful and friendly staff. A lot of my day was spent around the dining table, at communal breakfasts, lunches, and dinners between afternoons on the slopes and evenings soak in the outdoor hot spring. It’s a beautiful thing when people from all over the world can come together and have a delicious meal with engaging conversation. I was lucky to spend my time there with the Electrify Getaways team. I shot for their magazine on an editorial feature, Electrify Mag, back in the day and since then, we’ve been trying to get back together, but in a totally new place. I have never spent much time in Colorado so I was especially excited. With the long drive from the local airport of Montrose, I fell asleep only to be woken up by the soft patter of snow on the windshield. There she was, the gorgeous town of Dunton Hot Springs perched perfectly on the side of the mountains. I can imagine how different it is from Aspen. It’s secluded, quiet, and really just a place to unwind and really appreciate what Mother Nature has to offer. Dylana and I had the most gorgeous cabin. Think luxurious heated floors, Aesop shampoos and conditioners, and an amazing shelf of books. This is the epitome of relaxation and recovery. Here I am in my best mountain girl look: a shearling coat, knit dress, and trapper hat. Wherever I go, I tend to become a chameleon, drawing inspiration from the town’s colors and textures…fully blending in and becoming one with my surroundings. I fell in love with the wooden walls, embroidered teal rugs, and quilted blankets. The decor felt very authentic and true to what was left or the little ghost town of Dunton with an upscale, modern twist. The best part of my days began early. My internal clock woke up at 6am for any outgoing emails and I was always first at breakfast come 8am. I love when the place is still a bit sleepy. The smell of my freshly brewed coffee and sizzling bacon on the stove top. I took my seat by the fireplace in the main cabin. Now that I was wide awake, with the crisp cool air hitting my face, all I had to think about was whether I would simply go skiing or spend the afternoon in the hot springs. Why not both?

METALLIC PARTY

I have been all about shimmer and streaks of metallic. Here I am at the Rosewood London in what may be one of my favorite looks. An eclectic Etro blazer and the Cynthia Rowley pant I wear with just about everything. This is me, in full-on diva mode right before a night on the town in cold, cold London. Can you peek at those cotton long johns I’m sporting underneath? Girl has got to stay warm. I’m currently writing from the plane from Colorado to Milan. It’s crazy to be flying from the snow where I wore nothing but a black turtleneck and oversize parkas, straight into Milan Fashion Week. Time to stow away the snow boots and whip out the stilettos! I can’t wait to tell you more about my my relaxing getaway to Dunton Hot Springs. I needed to escape somewhere in the middle of nowhere where I could completely unwind, and where I had zero cell service on the ski slopes. 3 hours from any airport, and far enough removed from any town. Exactly what I wanted. For now, it’s time to switch gears and hit “fashion.” You would be surprised to see my suitcase…under 50 pounds, 7 days worth of clothes, 3 very cold cities. Let’s go.

TEXTURE PLAY IN LONDON

Et Voila, meet my new Chanel. I saw it in Beverly Hills when I was home in LA, and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I officially picked it up on my recent trip to Paris. Because when in Paris: get a Chanel. Gosh, it’s so pretty, I can’t stop looking at it! I’ve already taken it around the world with me and here, in London. It goes with just about everything. London was incredibly cold this past week. All I wanted to do was snuggle up at the hotel, hop from restaurant to cafe, and hit up the sauna and steam room. I didn’t get much sleep this time around either! There was too much to do and see in such a short amount of time and my internal clock certainly wasn’t wanting to adjust. I was back in town with Armani Beauty yet again for another killer photoshoot that I can’t wait to share with you for their new Face Fabric foundation. I spent a lot of time in and around the Rosewood London, our home base for the trip. It’s a new spot in London for me and I absolutely loved it. I stepped out to explore realizing how very Elton John-esque I looked: tiny sunglasses and a look that somehow didn’t match, yet completely matched. How very English of me.

Ru de la Paix | Paris

The best part of my work travels are the hotels. I like to thoroughly enjoy the room, get a good night’s sleep, and go and out and just get to know the neighborhood. I stumbled across Chanel‘s famous boutique on Rue de Cambon, so you can imagine that I did bring home a little something special for myself. I treated myself to a real Parisian shopping experience and it took no more than 2 seconds. The store was absolutely jam packed with international tourists and there was a long line (sigh). I knew exactly what I wanted. Spotted it on the shelves, chose the color, and was out. This is exactly how I like to shop, fast and easy. More on what’s inside this gorgeous Chanel box coming soon. But back to this insane hotel: I fell in love with the Park Hyatt-Vendôme in Paris. Imagine waking up in a luxurious room of gold, a cool breeze coming in from the two open windows, and the energy of the bustling chic city streets below. It’s exactly what you can expect from being in the heart of the city of love. I could stare out onto Rue de la Paix all day people watching and window shopping. I kept my looks very classic. Throughout my Paris press trip with Armani Beauty, I stuck with my favorite leather pants, metallic blouses, and over-the-top ruffled tunics. Classics with a little twist that can easily be mixed and matched. A velvet stiletto and of course, gorgeous lingerie from Fleur du Mal. The name just rolls of the tongue. Now, it’s time I learn a little bit more French, just in time for Paris Fashion Week.
