THE NOT SO SIMPLE MINI

// NO KA ‘OI dress, Reike Nen handbag, New Balance sneakers //

There is nothing ordinary about this little black dress. I like how it combines streetwear with athleisure, yet has a sexy and sleek approach. I love partnering up with NO KA ‘OI. The way the Italian label plays with cut-outs and interesting shapes is like a work of art. It hugs the body in all the right places. NYC is heating up these days. As things reopen, I’m slowly slipping into mini dresses with the ease of a sneaker. Who else is so happy to finally be leaving the house? I’m jumping for joy.

BOLD SPORTY SWIM | DENIZERI

// Denizeri swimsuits, Kate Spade gold earring, Ronny Kobo heart earring, Marc Jacobs beauty gel eye crayon //

Here is a new beautiful swimwear brand to love, coming straight out of Brooklyn. Meet Denizeri. Think extra bold hues and retro, sporty silhouettes. It’s timeless and designed for all women, made for both sport and leisure. I like mine with a swipe of electric blue eyeliner and giant earrings. It’s summer. Play with more color these days. Leave it to me to add a little glamour to the everyday.

MENTAL HEALTH CHECK

// Carla Colour sunglasses, Onia swimsuit, Stine Goya pant, Rooper handbag and scrunchie //

A quick mental health check. Spend time with your family. Go to the park. Lay on your back. Look up at the sky. Close your eyes. Listen to the birds sing. Get on your bicycle. Cook a meal with friends. Take a long walk by the water. Send a loved one a text message. Call a friend. Get some sun. These are my ways in finding my calm. Give yourself the extra love and rest it needs these days.

A MOMENTOUS TIME IN HISTORY

// LarAllan handbag //

This powerful bag by LarAllan is one I proudly wear to remember this momentous time in history we are living in now, when the tide turned and we made a vow to never give up on the fight. This time is just the beginning of our fight for equality for our Black communities. It’s the time their voices were heard, and a time that we actually stopped to listen and do something about it. It is a time that as non-Black people, we acknowledge our privilege and dig deep into the root of subconscious racism so that we can put an end to it. Like many of you, I am taking these stories home with me and educating myself, my family, and my friends. The more we keep this conversation going, the more we can tackle the roots of our history’s problems that go 400 years back. Let’s put in this time and this work and make it really mean something. As a fashion influencer, supporting black-owned businesses and letting the brands that I work with know that I stand for diversity and that I want them to also, is a great start. It’s a start that will keep going and growing and growing.
