NEW YEAR’S EVE EVENING COUTURE WITH ST. JOHN

Evening couture gown: St. John.

It’s on New Year’s Eve that I whip out my flash camera and bounce around the party, capturing every moment in sight. What goes best with flash? Sparkle, and lots of it. I really adore how St. John does evening couture. Each item I’ve kept in my closet is so timeless that I can wear them forever. This iconic American luxury house stays true to their roots, dating back to the 60’s. The way they have always done knits is innovative and iconic, having remained of the same amazing quality since day one. I have never felt a knit gown that felt so luxurious to the touch, with so much dimension and elegance. This is my New Year’s Eve ensemble: the St. John Metallic Knit Halter Neck Gown. It’s sophisticated. It twinkles. It has a stunning cut-out design, making it the perfect dress to go with a chic and messy low-bun. It’s all about the neckline and sequins! I kept things elegant but eclectic with a sheer dotted tight, and snake-print stiletto. I find combining subtle prints and patterns to be fun, especially with a statement black gown. But before I go anywhere I have to complete the look with a glossy, statement lip. It’s this time of year I invest in only a few really amazing gowns that work well even beyond the holiday season. Birthdays. Galas. It’s every single time that I can style this beauty a different way. Think with a chandelier earring. Or maybe a sock and strappy heel. Maybe a dramatic hat and black boot. A statement gown like this one is meant to lived and loved for years to come. 

This is how I want to feel going into 2019: super shiny.

The Versace Pre-Fall ’19 just debuted last night right here in NYC. What an iconic event! I went all out in this head-to-toe Versace velvet power look for the night. At my fitting, I fell madly in love with these warm jewel tones and fierce cheetah print. It’s decadent. It’s sexy. It’s fun. It’s over-the-top. It’s everything I love and admire in Donatella Versace and her designs. They are truly fearless. They turn heads. They never leave your memory. The way she uses gold is beyond. I can spot a Versace piece from a mile away with just the glisten of a gold button in the sun. For Pre-Fall ’19 you’ll see lots of black and white animal prints, along with bright pops pf pink, green, blue, and yellow thrown into the mix. Eclectic to the max and I adore every bit of it.

DIFFERENT WAYS TO WEAR PLAID IN PARIS

These two looks are all about plaid, featuring items in my closet that I wear on repeat. The chunky knit sweater. The statement turtleneck dress. The tweed skirt. Gucci, Lie Sang Bong, and Mulberry. All amazing designers that are taking plaid to the next level. I miss Paris already! When I’m in town for work, the days fly by, and my jet lag is always absolutely insane. I’m a happy girl if I get one second to hit the spa before all the fashion. The holidays don’t slow anything down. Team Suarez is currently wrapping up all of our holiday shoots and campaigns. Think hours at our desk doing final edits, hopping from event to event, and even hosting a few shin-digs of our own. I love taking things offline and really connecting to our community…connecting to all of you! I think taking everything online and moving it offline is so important right now for the longevity of what we do. Making those face-to-face connections and just keeping things real. Plus, there happens to be Pre-Fall runway shows happening right now, this weekend, in NYC. I just saw the Alexander Wang Collection 2 show last night, and I’ll be over at Versace’s show this evening. I can always expect the unexpected this time of year. The inspiration just keeps on going! So much sparkle and so little time, but it’s all just super exciting! Even with the holiday rush and go, go, go, it’s that time of year where I hit refresh. I’ve already booked my flights back to Los Angeles for Christmas. This lady needs a really good long vacation. The sun, my car, and a good soundtrack. I can hardly wait. I’m sticking it out in NYC style until then!

I am excited to finally publish my cover for the Neiman Marcus October 2018 BOOK, featured here alongside some amazing modern-day starlets. This is my second Neiman Marcus cover (what an incredible year!) and though it is now November and many of you have already received the book in the mail or in-store this past month, I’m excited to link everything here so you can shop, shop, shop! What I love most about this campaign shot by the legendary Guy Aroch is that bold pops of color and high energy is everything. It is classic NYC style at it’s very best.
