Slice of Lemon

(RVCA denim jacket, Olive Clothing denim shirt, 7 For All Mankind flares, Chaser Brand tank, Jenny Bird handbag, Brixton hat, Modern Vice “Carly” boots)
Yellow is forever one color I love for summer. The yellow of the Sunset Beach hotel, the lemons perfectly placed at our table. All of these little things brightened up this gloomy afternoon at the beach. We finally made our way to the hotel after asking countless locals on the road, nice enough to stop on their bikes and steer us in the right direction! Who knew the winding roads and bridges could be so complicated. It was freezing, but luckily there were blankets to bundle up in on the roof deck during our lunch, keeping me warm. With the ocean’s breeze blowing my safari hat off my head, I wanted nothing more than to curl inside our car, and continue driving around the island with the heater on! This place seemed magical though, one of the most beautiful places I’ve seen in New York. A magnificant lunch of too early to drink glasses of sangria, and perfectly well-done burgers on wooden plates. Everyone brave enough to make their way out to the island on this chilly day looked beautiful…European, simple, and chic. Everything seemed white! From the sky, to the sand, to the linen shirts walking by. The seagulls flying just above us and the light sound of music from the restaurant below were probably the only ones making noise outside. Us girls ran outside squelling our heads off like little girls as we snapped some last minutes shots in the wind..what we’ll remember from our super long Memorial Day weekend. The boyfriend stayed in the car of course, seeking shelter, before we all decided it was about time to head back to the city, and doze off in the backseat to the radio. There’s something about chilly beach days that I still like. The nostaligia…it reminds me of home in Santa Monica, the constant late night chills by the water. I kept to my basics…corduroy flares, my favorite denim jacket, on top of cotton layers. Until next time Sunset Beach! And then, I will be in nothing but a teeny tiny bikini I hope!

Walk this Way

(Bardot jacket, French Connection dress, Rebecca Minkoff “Logan” backpack, Jenny Bird “mantra” necklace, Frye “sabrina” boots, Raen sunglasses)
This is me on the weekends…continuously tugging the straps to my backpack, hopping around the city in a great pair of heeled hiking boots and a little frock. So yes, this weekend was just too good. Dylana spent the nights on our pull-out couch, and because guess what?! It was the boyfriend’s giant neverending birthday bash! Let’s say we did a bit too much celebrating before today. Happy Birthday Jordan!!! There he is…pretending to look intense at our Sunday brunch, when really, he’s one of the biggest goofs you’ll ever meet, couldn’t hurt a fly. I looove youuuu (and your shoes of course). He’s one of the most incredible people I’ve ever met…he inspires me everyday, he’s eccentirc and makes me laugh, and he’s taught me that you know what “the sky’s the limit” and together I feel we are unstoppable. How did I get so lucky I really don’t know!! I get to live life and even work with my absolute best friend. All of our friends and I used his birthday as the perfect excuse to go out and go a little crazy! From late nights seeing his mom dance on tables out in the Meatpacking District, to humble calming nights at 1 a.m. curled up on the couch of our friend’s gorgeous Brooklyn loft. Wherever we were, I never really wanted the night to end. Neither did Dylana. Just before she left, she snapped these photos of me, praising the sunshine yet loathing the end to a gorgeous Sunday afternoon. I’m just happy to know that times like these will happen again.

Sun in her Eyes

It’s already feeling like summer and I’m so, so excited for COLOR and bright bold lips. Summer in NYC means concerts in the park (can you say Ty Segall on a Thursday night?) and dancing in the grass in nothing but a tiny frock and some western boots. Each day here I live for the night…after work meet-ups with the buds down in the LES, just as the city streets are cooling. Here I’m shot at home in California. I do miss being home for work…2 weeks felt pretty long though! I ended up shooting the C&C California Fall ’13 ad campaign before a bright and early flight back to New YOOOOLK. I spent the rest of my California time at home out in the yard, hidden behind my sunglasses, my face turned up in the sun. Hours feel longer when I’m there, driving around town with the windows rolled down, popscicle in hand. The view isn’t so bad either. Flowers are everywhere. I always say…”LA is all about FLOWER POWER.” There really is some of the most beautiful lush in the Golden State. Summertime baby pink roses bud around the borders of my parent’s home. I’m happy right now that I’m not living out of a suitcase, though I have some killer travel plans coming up in the next month. I’m literally bringing out the passport as we speak! Here’s to summertime fun and neverending inspiration.
