Timeless on a Rainy Day

(Blue Bird blouse, By Corpus skirt, Glamyou shoes)

One thing I’m beginning to get used to on the East Coast: the massive amounts of unexpected showers. And of course, right after I lose my umbrella, which was already broken to begin with, NYC begins to cry it’s eyes out! But I actually love the rain. The city gets a bit cooler and the next day always seems a bit more fresh. I’m still waiting for my rain boots to be delivered(which I’m super stoked about), and so I’ve been going around in completely inappropriate shoes for this weather for the time being. Inappropriate, but still amazing, flat leather oxfords. Also known as, MAN SHOES. Once again, inspired by the boys strolling the city in similar type shoes, looking all comfy and casual. So jealous, I had to get a few pairs of my own! These are European made and literally feel like socks. The leather is superb and I love the unexpected blue shade. For my day out running with no luck in avoiding the endless amounts of puddles, I went with one very classic, SUPER simple look. I felt very Audrey Hepburn. Black and white with timeless shapes. This is one look I could probably grow old in and still look totally chic.

Soho Stripes

(Ruche blouse, Rue De Jeans, Moni Moni handbag, David Yurman/Vanessa Mooney jewelry, 80%20 shoes)

I live for strolls through Soho. The cobblestone streets and gorgeous brick buildings make me feel as if I’m on a movie set! I spent all morning at an event, but when I stepped outside, it felt amazing. It was seriously one of the most beautiful afternoons I’ve had here in NY! Cool, breezy, with clear skies. I wish I could stay in that moment forever. And this was before the torrential downpours we’ve experienced these past few days! As for my wardrobe, I’m all about simplicity during the summer and right now, I cannot get enough of the classic striped tee. I love a boxy shaped top paired with a great high-waisted pair of flared jeans. Such a refreshing break from skinny jeans. For some reason, the combination of red, white, and blue, never fails to look amazing. I sometimes feel my best looks are when I’m wearing head to toe basics.

Girls Night Out with Rebecca Minkoff

This week was full of fun fashion events… almost too many! I had a total blast even though I didn’t get much sleep! Here I am at the Rebecca Minkoff “Girls Night Out” event in their NYC showroom. For the event, I went with a red polka dot blouse I scored at a vintage boutique with of course, the best trousers known to man, by Mr. A Wang. We sipped on fruity cocktails and munched on French desserts like colorful macaroons and chocolates. I brought along my good friends, Kim, Claire, and Taisa to view the latest collection. I always have way too much fun with these girls, it’s kind of ridiculous, but I feel lucky to already have such amazing East Coast buddies! As for the new Rebecca Minkoff collection, it was absolutely stunning! Studs, fringe, and chains adorned the leather bags, giving the whole collection a very cool rock n’ roll vibe. Very much my style. One item I couldn’t really take my eyes off of? Those black leather booties! Talk about amazing! Need them nooowwwww. I think that might be the perfect heel height for days in the city. So now Rebecca designs bags, shoes, clothes, and of course, coming up, a pair of amazing CFDA Vogue Eyewear sunglasses that I shot a video for (to come out in October!) It was so nice to get to see the beautiful and wonderfully pregnant Rebecca and the rest of the RM team. I seriously cannot stop laughing when I am with them! Let’s just say it was one helluva night.

Taken From the Boys

(White + Warren tank, Alexander Wang trousers, Emily Cho handbag, Via Spiga shoes, Vanessa Mooney/ FEED Charity bracelet and rings, Ax + Apple necklace, Estée Lauder‘s “Fuschia Velvet” lipstick)

In New York, all the boys are sporting amazingly slim cut trousers and little brogues. Ummm, hot?! It’s totally one of those looks that girls can pull off too. I love a little ankle as well, and so when I found these trousers at the recent Alexander Wang sample sale, I went GAGA. They have a higher waist and are very straight down, cutting off perfectly just above the ankle. I’m obsessed with this boyish look! It’s casual yet still looks professional and SO PERFECT for the warm days in the city. To spice up my look and of course add a bit of femininity to it, I carried my new favorite piece, this Emily Cho leather handbag. Made in Italy, it’s super soft and has an amazing, edgy structure. I recently met up with the designers of this label… and on the subway! They recognized me through mutual friends and OMG they are two of the sweetest girls I’ve ever met. I just know this collection, which is already available at Saks, is going to skyrocket. Yet again, another new NYC designer that I’m in love with! I see myself even sporting this bag a totally different way…possibly to a fancy event or something! But it totally worked with my boy friendly ensemble! To give my androgynous look a little girly touch, I swiped on a bright, matte lip color. Although I’m pretty sure Estée Lauder’s “Red Velvet” lipstick was made for me, I’m also now wearing their “Fuschia Velvet” shade. Never do I leave the house without one of these two Velvet Collection shades in my handbag!
