Behind the Scenes Film: Pennyblack S/S ’13 coming soon!

I am beyond excited to share with you a sneak peek glimpse into my shoot with Italy’s PENNYBLACK S/S ’13 collection! The magalog is just about to be realeased (I’m dying to get my hands on the issue) but for now, I’ve got this killer behind the scenes PORTRAIT film to share. Here I am photographed by my my amazing friend and photographer, Kelsea Kosko, out in the dreamy beaches of Montauk. I don’t know what I’d do without her! The collection was filled with beautiful pastels, mixed in with bold reds, and lots of prints. I have to say, I still think of those gorgeous platform Mary-Jane shoes, and flat sandals. Can it be summer already?! This past July when we shot this, seems like yesterday…everything from our long drive from the city to Montauk, to early mornings at the Surf Lodge, running through the windy beaches, hiking with our crew through the green lush just to shoot on a giant cliff overlooking the ocean. Talk about daring! We were given complete creative freedom for the shoot. The styling, the locations, everything was a spur of the moment shot, and it was perfect. I already miss our crew and rad van which took us all over the island. It was our little home for  that warm, rainy day. I think the unexpected rain made the mood for our shoot even more special. Stay tuned for the magalog and interview!

Our Golden Days

(C&C California “ombre” dress, Vintage sweater, Dylana’s coat, Ax+Apple necklace, “Natalie + Dylana Suarez x Modern Vice” VINTAGE BENNI boot, JETT MESSENGER bag (now avail in stores at Cloak & Dagger NYC)

I always go to my roof for a little bit of winter’s sun. It’s Saturday morning and I’ve got The Shins softly playing and I’m slowly gearing up for a long weekend ahead. Friday night was spent in my apartment with friends and unexpected visitors, making our own flatbread pizza and lying over the couch with our guitars, playing as movies were on repeat in the background. For some reason, I love making music with the tv on. Talk about a perfect Friday night! When I’m lying around the house, I’m always in jeans and a denim button-down, but I do love my tie-dye and layers, and in warm, golden tones. This maxidress reminds me of the California waves, and it’s a beautiful seafoam green. I can almost taste April in California and I cannot wait. For now, I’ll be downing coffee before spending hours this weekend with the boyfriend at the factory, as we perfect some upcoming styles. Now you can even get our tasseled JETT MESSENGER bag and other MV designs at Cloak & Dagger in the East Village! Their cozy store is always a place I recommend everyone to visit…with it gorgeous little frocks and kickass guitars. Lord knows we all need a little rock n’roll lovin’ in our wardrobes.

NYFW: The Boy’s Trouser

Yesterday I had to miss an entire day of NYFW due to a shoot, and I have to admit, it was actually a much needed break from all the craziness. I did give in though late in the night for one more party. I swear the socializing never quite ends this week, but isn’t that the point? Liquor, and all things naughty, surrounded by people in adorable little get-ups. I have to say this may have been one of my favorite looks this week. A boyish leather trouser, a Pretenders rock tee, and beautiful printed suede jacket. Oh, and can’t forget the 90’s choker necklace!!!  With all the pretty dresses floating around Lincoln Center, I almost forgot how amazing it was to sit back in a t-shirt. Holy Moly! I live for the slouchy things in my wardrobe…pants so cozy that I can dig my hands into my pockets on a cold, windy day. I was dressed for the BCBGMaxazria show, and yep, I was backstage with Max. He called me “cool” and I nearly died. Yep, NYFW rocks. Take a peeky here at some of my little snaps along the way! Pretty little shoes at Jenni Kayne, and some neon doll-like babes at Kate Spade. I’ve got one more day of shows before I can finally wrap myself around the real world.

NYFW: Tiptoeing through Snow

This NYFW revolved around lots of snow, and a ton of layers. I could barely feel my fingers the entire time! Just before the shows began, we went a little crazy preparing for the blizzard at home. We’re talking 8 a.m. runs to Whole Foods to stock up the refrigerator, you know, grabbing ice cream and Pirate’s Booty “just in case we need it!” Pretty soon, we had a house full of snacks and frozen pizza. That’s how you get BLIZZARD READY. Luckily, just as the wind was hitting and the rain turned to snow, my lovely Hudson Jeans driver for the day, Leo, came to the rescue! Friday may have been the perfect day to have the driver! The car was already fully equipped for a crazy blizzard day for fashion week. Copies of Elle magazine in the backseat kept me occupied running around town between shows, there were a ton of sweets (GUMMYBEARS), oh, and even a few bottles of vodka (UHOH)! It really wasn’t a party until Dylana showed up, and we could finally blast music and make dance videos with our driver (who was actually a total hunk)! I think we made our way to about 5 shows that day. BCBGMaxazria, with it’s badass babes clad in beanies and flowing maxis. CANDELA, with the free spirit, and vintage inspired skirts and dresses. Rebecca Minkoff, WHIT, Nicole Miller, Stephanie Pleet, and Kate Spade to name a few. Our night went on and on, and before we knew it, we had Leo the driver on the list to the night’s party, and memories to make us laugh for the rest of lives. Thank you Hudson jeans for an incredibly kickass day of Argentinian hunks, a car that allowed for a last minute outfit change, and of course, a fresh new pair of tapered pants.
