TIMBERLAND FALL ’13 CAMPAIGN// MARK MAKERS

Take a peek inside my latest TIMBERLAND Fall ’13 campaign shoot! The team was super rad. The day of the shoot was extra greay and gloomy. The rain constantly on and off. The Timberland team and I had our giant van for shelter in as we went from location to location. I love the puddles just off Bleeker Street and the rain tricking down the window to my favorite cafe. A typical NYC day. Knee-high socks and oversize cardigans totally necessary. The city grey, quiet, and oh so mysterious. The photo team huddled under the biggest umbrella I’ve ever seen. We began our day filming in my apartment…I ended up serenading everyone in my bedroom before beginning our adventures on location hehe! Talk about completely awkward yet awesome. I guess I got used to singing on the spot. Anyways, I love having a say in the wardrobe. I got to mix and match my top 3 favorite boots. I loved the lace-up heel with some grey tights, a studded skirt, and Timb’s leather jacket…of course, with a sick fur vest thrown on top. Reds, browns, and greys happen to be my fall color palette at the moment. For the super tall “Savin Hill” boot, I liked it with salmon jean tucked in, and an over the knee flowing dress and cardigan. A look I an easily take from the city to the country. That look may be my favorite. And last but not least, the classic lace-up boot with one super short striped mini with an oversize cargo jacket, and thick thick knee socks that show just the right amount of leg. Timberland, you never disappoint. Thank you for having me as your MARK MAKER. I guess I’m doing something right. Our film just played again the amazing Wild Nothing band out in Brooklyn the other night. Talk about so so amazing and unforgettable. Now, I just can’t stop thinking of the classic yellow work boot. I want one. 🙂

INVITE: J BRAND at BERGDORF GOODMAN EVENT

(J BRAND Jeans zip sweater and velvet jeans, Made for Pearl fringe handbag, Kenneth Cole boots, Vintage hat)
I am so addicted to the new J BRAND jeans collection. This velvet red pair is just heaven. It slips right on perfectly, and the print, paired with a good rustic shoe, just makes me want to dance to The Stones all night long. The “Exile on Main Street” album in particular. Paired with the oversize J BRAND zip sweater, slightly puffed on the shoulders, I was just cozy enough to go without a jacket. You can’t go wrong with their current fall collection, and color palette, now available at all gorgeous BERGDORF GOODMAN stores. The burgundys, the “Luxe Sateen” grey, and “Photo Ready” black skinny jeans. I have them all, and they’re already my daily go-tos. I just ordered the luxurious blazer one size up, knowing that I’ll wear it just a teeny tiny bit oversize. With the leather detailing, it’s best with some black skinnies, and a white button-down. I’m digging the classics. I’ve just swapped the racks of my closet to the dark, neutrals. Just in time for fall!

NEOPRENE CROP

(Stolen Girlfriend’s Club cropped sweater, 7 For All Mankind jeans, Ralph Lauren trenchcoat (similar), Swedish Hasbeen boots, Marie Turnor handbag (similar), Karmyn Dame gold cuff, The 2 Bandits rings, IPPOLITA silver ring, Vanessa Mooney big ring)

I love a good cropped sweater that feels like a wetsuit at the beginning of fall. Neoprene is my friend…in a swimmy, a dress, anything! With a trench, some shredded jeans, and victorian clogs, I felt like the tallest chick in Bryant Park. Any type of heel always makes me taller than anyone walking in the crowds, and suddenly, everyone crossing the street is looking up at me. But I LOVE LOVE the park in fall. This day in particular felt like gloomy London. The little chairs, the white sandy floors, it all reminds me of NYFW back in the day, when it was so darn chic and Bryant really was the place to be and be seen. I miss all of those street shots, pinned to my walls back in my hometown of LA. Anyways, I had just left the factory and meetings, and finally had a chance to plop down and stare up into the trees. With so much work, my pals and I have been using our days off going to gigs to dance the night away before it gets way too cold to think of going out. This time? TAME IMPALA and The Flaming Lips! With some rad VIP tickets overlooking the band, we found ourselves headbanging next to Alexa Chung, before I had to actually throw off my clogs and hat to really let loose, flailing my arms above the crowd.

LOOKING UP

(STYLESTALKER tank dress, Amourvert striped top, Chloe “ethel” handbag, Modern Vice “carly” boots, Black Water Moon necklace, Karen London silver cuff, Ax + Apple spike ring, Vanessa Mooney rings, The 2 Bandits boot strap)
I was that stripe-y sparkle-y thing running around Times Square after a long day’s work. I feel I spend way more time now in the Garment District than anywhere else. It’s crazy. The streets are constantly packed around 5pm with a flood of designers and people I’ve worked with, rushing through the streets off Fashion Avenue and into Bryant Park. This time, I was like “you know what, let’s go to Times Square when we’re off work.” YESSSSSSS, this place is absolutely nuts! I’m constantly being shoved a little to the side as I’m walking and staring up rather than straight in front of me, eventually grabbing on my sister’s arm in fear of losing her. The lights, the flashing advertisements blinding you the moment you step outside, the naked cowboy. It’s fun to take in why so many people come and visit our city. Suddenly it’s like New York City is just a playground for everyone else in the world. Amongst the tourists, the cameras, and accents, we found ourselves clutching our bags as we huddled through the sidewalks, trying to finally escape for home back downtown. I have to admit, this place is the best when you’re driving through the neon lights at night…and in the safety of your own car hehe.
