A Wacky Bunch

(Vintage dress from Fuzzy Bellas Vintage, Muuba leather jacket, Nine West x Pamela Love boots, H&M beanie, Hanes tights)
Yep, the Suarez’s are a wacky bunch. We’re all over 5’10”, never have the same opinion on anything, and most importantly, our closets are just about as crazy as one’s family can get. There are loads of beanies involved, we each have matching duffle coats, and there are even a few puffers lying around. But believe it or not, we’re all lovers of vintage. I took them over to the river to Williamsburg for some thrifting action..and guess what? It was their favorite part of NYC! They claimed it “reminded them of being young again.” Ok, mom and dad! My parents didn’t really know how to handle the real east coast chill, but luckily, they had Dy and I to show them the way. It’s all about the layering!! Fair Isle sweaters, tights, buckled boots. For me, I cannot stop wearing velvet this time of year, only because it’s extra warm and thin enough to just wear under a leather jacket. You do end up looking a bit like a prairie biker chick, but ya know, it works! Now I just want to figure out the time I can next borrow Dylana’s brightly colored beanie collection…

Letters from NYC

Here is just a peek inside my UGG Australia “Letters from NYC” campaign shoot. The shoot was simple…and shot where my NYC stories began: in DUMBO, Brooklyn, right by the bridge. Living with a home of artists, I got to go back to my roots. I took the train back to York Ave the morning of our shoot, and it always feels strange going back. There were so many memories from when I lived there. And this was way before my life did a huge 360 in the past year. One of my favorite understated looks is overalls, a tee, and a leather jacket..and so we incorporated this staple look into my shoot. New York’s become my home and my base. I love this city more and more every single day.
As part of this campaign, you can watch the video, and donate to the Hurricane Disaster Relief fund 🙂

On the Dock

(Paul & Joe dress, Vintage camo jacket, “Natalie + Dylana Suarez x Modern Vice” JETT boots)

To this day I still dream about the windy afternoons on the dock in Morocco. Kebabs. Rice. Chilled Coca-Cola. I’m dying for all that the warm weather brings, including mixing and matching just about every printed piece in my suitcase. Finally, just yesterday, I got to stay in, unpack, and kind of arrange my NYC apartment. It’s been weeks of being all over the place, that it’s hard finding time to organize. Even my parents are cleaning up, packing their bags, and heading back to California after what’s been an adventurous 14 days. My life really has done one big flip flop since their last visit! Our past 2 weeks have been crazy, and honestly I’m going to miss them. They really did love getting a taste of my NYC life, and of course, enjoying my lil apartment while I’m out and about. They’ve even been running around with me to shoots, to and from the airport, and even made multiple trips out to the shoe factory. They’re just as exhausted as I am! For now, I’ll be dreaming of my next escape…whether it be for work or play.

White as Snow

(Juicy Couture sweater, Vintage shorts, Rebecca Minkoff handbag, Sole Society brogue// $20 off with code: NATALIE20 till 12/15 see more on Cyber Monday)
It’s Monday morning and yep, another start to a crazy week. I don’t even know where to begin. From getting things ready for my next DKNY photoshoot tomorrow to arranging plans for our upcoming east and west coast Modern Vice shoe events, I’ve got a lot of things going on in my head. All I know is that all my work has to be done before I’m off to LA and San Francisco. So with all the craziness, I’m normally all decked out in dark easy layers, but lately, I’ve decided to go the pastel route. A white sweater, black tights, and my palest of shoes…a baby pink suede brogue from Sole Society.  Yep, I’m diggin this new brand, especially for little flats for running around the city. Plus, they were under 50 bucks, or more now with Cyber Monday 🙂 Everything about this reminds me of my time in Paris. I will always love the pure simplicity of the French! It’s just a little something I slipped into as my sister and parents dragged me out for an early breakfast. It’s true! The Suarez’s are IN TOWN and though we sometimes get at each other’s necks, I couldn’t be happier. I finally got to meet my Australian cousin all while the mum n pops, here from California, are barely handling the East Coast cold! Sometimes you just gotta be the tour guide.
