Of the 90’s

Last weekend I spent a good few days really getting back into thrifting. I hit up the west village with friends, and even made my way down 23rd street. Sometimes I’m lucky, other times I end up bringing things home only to discover they have holes or are just downright overused. But still, the thrill of the hunt for something one-of-a-kind is my ultimate pleasure. I was smitten with this printed number I found in Williamsburg the moment I laid eyes on it. Not only did it have a long, slim cut, but it was the fact that this exact print was almost identical to a piece I had in my wardrobe as a child, made me buy it. It’s oh so 90’s, the time of my youth, and I can just picture the tween version of myself with a similar choker, but maybe with an extreme high ponytail and a pair of embarrassingly elevated black sneakers (yikes). Anyways, I’ve outgrown the 90’s but revisiting it in some way or another is just too fun!
By the way, can you tell that I’m on a Vanessa Mooney binge? Her handmade, colorful jewels make me giddy every single morning. I think one of my main decisions each day is figuring how I can incorporate at least one of her chokers into an outfit…I’m that obsessed.

Sleep on It

So yeah, things sometimes get a little crazy, but in the best way of course. Those for me, are always the funniest and most memorable of moments. Kinda like last night, where I celebrated my visiting friend’s stay. You know you’re having a good time when all of a sudden everything is hilariously brought out on Twitter, there’s dancing involved, and you end up falling asleep on the train ride home. Yes, this happened and I found myself waking up out somewhere by 140th street, far far from my home. I’ve always been one to tell others to “sleep on it,” but looks like I’m the one that needs some mentoring. Think about it, sleep on it, laugh about it, stretch it out. I’m doing whatever it takes to get back on track for a busy day tomorrow morning. Night night everyone!

Eyes Wide Shut

I think I just got the deepest sleep known to man…you know, making up for a whole weekend of really late nights up. But I’d still be more than happy to go back here to Bryant Park and just shut my eyes and nap. Speaking of which, my sister totally thought I put this look together blindfolded or something. Yes, the mix of deep reds, yellows, browns, and a pop of green are a funky mix, but I’m sort of diggin it. There really is nothing I love more than a gorgeous Spring dress with a boyish pair of boots (is it obvious I wear these everyday?) I’m pretty sure all of my friends are tired of seeing me in them, but come on, when I love a pair of boots, I will wear them endlessly, every single day, until the sole comes apart. I’ve got a pretty legitimate love for these brown lace-ups and wouldn’t be surprised if I get teary when they take their last step!

Snap and Go

Little peek at what I’ve got stored on my phone. I’m always snapping and going throughout my day, never losing inspiration in the places I go and the people I meet. Only recently did I get Instagram…yes, I’m an Android user and the colors only work on my phone when I slam it like a maniac twice on the back of my palm (or shake it like a magic ball). It takes pretty darn nice photos when it wants to though, no complaints. Follow me on Instagram if you must!
Oh, and it’s Cinco de MAYO. You know what that means: freedom, democracy, and a whole lot of madness! Work this week has got me excited to spend the next two days in complete laze mode, though I know my friends are going to drag me out into nights of pure insanity…and not just to celebrate the Battle of Puebla 🙂
