Sun in her Eyes

It’s already feeling like summer and I’m so, so excited for COLOR and bright bold lips. Summer in NYC means concerts in the park (can you say Ty Segall on a Thursday night?) and dancing in the grass in nothing but a tiny frock and some western boots. Each day here I live for the night…after work meet-ups with the buds down in the LES, just as the city streets are cooling. Here I’m shot at home in California. I do miss being home for work…2 weeks felt pretty long though! I ended up shooting the C&C California Fall ’13 ad campaign before a bright and early flight back to New YOOOOLK. I spent the rest of my California time at home out in the yard, hidden behind my sunglasses, my face turned up in the sun. Hours feel longer when I’m there, driving around town with the windows rolled down, popscicle in hand. The view isn’t so bad either. Flowers are everywhere. I always say…”LA is all about FLOWER POWER.” There really is some of the most beautiful lush in the Golden State. Summertime baby pink roses bud around the borders of my parent’s home. I’m happy right now that I’m not living out of a suitcase, though I have some killer travel plans coming up in the next month. I’m literally bringing out the passport as we speak! Here’s to summertime fun and neverending inspiration.

Behind the Scenes: DKNY Fragrances

(Behind the Scenes with DKNY)
We just recently wrapped our DKNY Fragrances shoot! As DKNY’s Core Girl, I think I’ve gotten to play with just about every single “Be Delicious” and “pureDKNY” scent. Every vanilla, every rose. I’m clearly obsessed. I left our shoot smelling like a mix of apples, vanilla, verbana, and rose thanks to having to spritz myself during each take! Oh, and this time around, we even snapped up some shots in nothing but a little towel. Luckily, there weren’t any towel slips…well, maybe. There was definitely that “woops, I accidentally sprayed myself in the eye!” moment (luckily, I was totally fine!) Anyways, it was if the apple was following me around everywhere…at home in bed, around the city. It may be my absolute favorite bottle, signifying the city that’s taken me in with open arms, embraced me, and given me a whole new life. I’m so excited to see the final results. Shot by one of my favorite photographers, Carmen Chan, who I’ve worked with so many times throughout my modeling days, our first being back in LA for campaign over 3 years ago. I’m just so happy she came all the way from Hong Kong for our shoot this past week. I love all the cool and crazy girls I always get to work with.
Stay tuned as these images slowly get released throughout the year!

Sleepy Roadtrip

(Element “misha” dress, RVCA denim jacket, Jenny Bird bucket bag, Modern Vice “Carly” booties (email jordan@modernvice.com to PRE-ORDER), Worth & Worth panama hat, Vanessa Mooney dagger necklace, Kirsten Goss cuff)
Roadtrips are what I live for. Sleepy girls in the backseat. The new Nationals album on repeat, soothing my mind. With the window down, the humidity glistened our faces. We were headed for East Hampton. It’s my first time venturing into this beautiful place. Everything seems white. Next to the post little restaurants happen to be charming island homes…the wood chipping off the roofs, and perfect little black shutters. So much green! More green and mist than I can handle. It was gorgeous. Just before the rain started to dampen our nights, my sister and friend made our way out back….where we were staying was surrounded by a quiet field of green grass and mystical trees. Blowing bubbles, Dylana and our friend were enjoying our time playing on this new land. With the whole city dressed in casual and linen-y neutrals, I instead, wore a zig-zag little mod dress! Slit sleeves and all! This little number could have been straight out of a 60’s film. My Panama hat kept flying away but luckily I always caught it along the way! Eventually we got tired and watched the rain from our balcony. Our hotel was lined with portraits of the ocean and seashells. All I really wanted to do was put on the bikini and head to the beach. If only I packed my wellies…so I could head out onto the beachy sand in peace.

Green is Good

If I also could just have my own greenhouse, I totally would. I’m obsessed. The smell, the humidity…all the little elements of the Earth pull me in everytime. I could spend all day just photographing flowers. Crouching down, capturing those vibrant colors, and just getting so up close and personal, inspecting each vein of a leave, as crazy as it is! In Upstate New York there’s so much of Mother Nature…so much green, so much mountain, so much rock. It’s a lot for an LA native to discover beyond the concrete NYC streets. Two days up in the mountains felt like eternity. I spent my last afternoon snuggled up in an extra large cable knit sweater, squinting in the sun, behind rectangular lenses, tugging at my mini dress in hopes of nobody seeing up my skirt and catching a glimpse of my knickers! But we were in the middle of nowhere, with nobody around…I guess it didn’t really matter! My yellow JETTS happened to match the sun, slowly becoming more and more broken in as I walked through the rubble.  I wish to go back to that one moment…all of us just lying on the grass by an empty house, and a yard full of lonely benches. Only the sounds of birds chirping and the hikers below could wake us. It’s nearly Memorial Day weekend and I am beyond excited. A group of my pals and I are heading up to Montauk and the Hamptons for some surf and sun! Just 2 more days suriviving the last minute fittings and work in the city, before I can get my surf on!
