SHOPSTYLE Travel Hub // BALI

One of my ULTIMATE summer destinations is BALI, Indonesia. And it’s exciting to share my ltitle inside scoop with ShopStyle’s TRAVEL HUB amongst other tastemakers and designers.

When I travel, I love playing the explorer, and I LOVE to wear tons of print in these hot and humid exotic locations. Bali is just perfect for that. The city has an energy that just makes you feel more calm, more peaceful. It’s the perfect faraway destination. The volcanos, the ancient temples…there’s so much exciting beauty everywhere you turn. Though I stayed in the luxurious town of Nusa Dua…I loved to visit the LOCALS. Ubud, being one of the best places to be. The art, the food, the rice patty fields!

WHAT TO WEAR PADDLEBOARDING IN BALI:

The oceans in Bali are serene. The water so blue, and the beaches so calm. I love to paint the beach loads of color by mixing and matching psychedelic prints! I like to go for a super cool rash guard, on top of cheeky bikini bottom. Ecclectic and cool. Then, I pile on the jewelry. The heavy beaded cuffs, the turquoise rings. A bandana headband to keep the hair off my face. And cat eye sunglasses. Who said you can’t be chic in the ocean?

WHAT TO WEAR ON A BIKE RIDE THROUGH UBUD:

I’m a total biking girl, and so I wear just about anything when I’m traveling in exotic cities. It could be a plaid midi dress, a cropped lace blouse, or classic vintage Levi’s. But I always, always play up the shoes. For hot Summer mornings, I go for a platform espadrille sandal . . . for nights, I slip into a classic black chelsea boot. It’s all about the accessories — the chain belt looped through your shorts or hung low on the hips of your dress and the chic oversize sun hat. And a backpack is a must.

FARM FRESH

My 4th of July weekend was extra refreshing. With the rain, and beautiful lush of Sag Harbor, I went with all of my “farmer” favorites. The perfect sun hat for picking sun dried tomatoes…a silk jumper so light it feels like air…and plaid to keep me warm during the cold downpours in the late evening. A look I’ll wear over and over again. Shelter Island and Sag Harbor had me feeling granola (yes, I said GRANOLA) because organic everything really does taste better, and rosé on the house porch just that much sweeter. It’s the no makeup, “WHAT DAY IS IT?!” lifestyle. I’m back home in the city fresh faced, tanned, and ready to take on the week full force. Sometimes the low key life, is the best life. I’m still dreaming of those cozy wooden homes and quiet street corners. It’s true, nothing really beats a good ALL AMERICAN getaway.

THE BODY SUIT

I am madly and deeply in love with this 6 Shore Road one-piece. The color blocking, and the fact, that it’s exactly something my mother would have worn in the 80’s. It’s that high cut on the hips gives it that sexy, vintage vibe. I took this swimmy on a morning run in Montauk. Yes, Montauk Off Duty doesn’t end until about September so stay tuned! Sunsoaked adventures are the best. Here we are at the super cool Gurney’s Inn! The best private beach in town.

And YES to CROCHET. That and the highest of a waist denim short  that it’s SO HIGH that you can’t see your belly button. Though my weeks are totally jam packed with work, I love the feeling of packing from Friday to SUNDAY and wearing just about anything that I want. Barely legs and all. Letting it all let loose till Sunday.// Cleobella crochet tank, James Jeans shorts, H&M kimono, Vanessa Mooney necklace, Dorothy Perkins sandals //

THE CHAIN

GIG SHACK:
I found this little spot on a rainy day in the town. I always go for the mango, blackened fish tacos, and seasoned carrots.

SHOP THE CHAIN GAME

My absolute favorite accessory is the chain belt. This vintage beauty was an old birthday present from the older sis. Best worn extra low on the hips, I let the click and clack of the coins and the pearls jingle as I walk. It’s heavy and honestly, the coolest piece EVER. I’ll intertwine it into my jeans, or denim cut-offs, but I like it slung across a lace maxi dress. Recently, I’ve been picking up the ol’ long black dresses, releasing my inner Stevie Nicks. The patchwork denim duster just the finishing touch. With the beach and Montauk, I’ve been keeping things extra comfortable. Normally you’ll find me in a bikini and flared pants. But for nights out at the Surf Lodge, you’ll find me slipping into my snake boots, and letting my hair down. Cheers to the first week of SUMMER.
