Work and Play

My work weeks in NYC have really been non-stop this entire summer, and so I’m so looking forward to this long weekend. I’m ready to finally sleep in like a normal person! I’ve been busy prepping and shooting for DKNY Fragrances, shooting lookbooks, and basically trying to balance everything else I have in my life. I think I’ve taken it all pretty…I mean, I still feel pretty sane. Work’s been in studio a lot of the week, but I much prefer the madness on location…on LES rooftops, in some secret, secret gardens, and all around lower Manhattan. It’s the little things on set that makes the week: a killer crew, random encounters with lucky ladybugs, and late nights out in the village. I’m happy to be away for a few days, at my sister’s with all my favorite Philly girls. Currently crashed in Dylana’s bed after a girl’s movie night. So, so needed!

Polyvore x SWAROVSKI Contest: More than a Feeling

More Than a Feeling with Swarovski: Anger
Starting today, I’m hosting the
How adorable is the Swarovski figurine? This cute little crystal guy is currently sitting by my laptop, always sparkling off the sun. Releasing steam, it’s a daily reminder to take things easy, and sit back during my always on-the-go lifestyle. For me, music the best way to release any kind of tension…and I like being able to turn something bad it into something good. A story that I can keep forever. Even just strumming simple chords gets me feeling better at the end of the day and takes my mind of things that make me upset. My perfect look to take the stage: high waisted flipped out skirts, crop tops or torn rock tees, and flat black boots made for kicking and dancing. Topped off with a swipe of black eyeliner and a killer guitar, nothing can really stop you at that point.
Enter the Swaroviski + Polyvore “More Than a Feeling: Anger” campaign by creating your own set on Polyvore with the figurine…and showing what look you’d wear when and how you release some steam! Contest ends the 19th! Continue to follow me on Polyvore to see what else I’m currently in love with.

Girls will be Girls

Summer, I don’t really want you to end. There’s still so much I want to do…drives out to the middle nowhere, eating in diners, and staying in old hotels. These images remind me of the books I used to read growing up, and the random trips us girls used to take. We’d go up and down the west coast, before making our way to Vegas…Reno…to small unknown towns, just for a little change in scenery. I miss those days. If only there was enough time to revisit these little summer memories. (images from Studded Hearts)

A Haunting Stroll

I love when Dylana takes me around to all of her favorite cooky spots in Philly. I think she does get a kick out of trying to scare her little sissy! The morning was extremely gloomy, just about to storm for the entire day, and so we took an early stroll to the local cemetery before being hit by thunder and lightning. Dy’s always been saying “I’ve always wanted to shoot in a cemetery!” It was locked, leaving us peering in from the gates. I caught focus with old dolls…withered flowers…just about everything that could bring shivers up and down my back! It’s no secret… we’ve got a thing for hauntingly cool/weird things.  There’s that something about Philly, being one of the oldest city’s in America, that draws me to it, and always leaves me wondering. With giant messages graffitied everywhere I turn, I get more and more inspired every time I visit. I can’t wait for next weekend.
