A Walk on the Wild Side

(Hallelu leopard coat, Volcom striped tank, Mango leather jacket, J Brand jeans, Rebecca Minkoff bag, Dolce Vita from Dear Fieldbinder boots)
I’ve been doing anything and everything to keep warm. I’m still adjusting to this really cold weather, which apparently will be getting MUCH colder. I can’t believe I started the morning off wearing shorts with tights. That was definitely a no-go. I immediately had to rush home to throw on a pair of jeans and this coat. One coat normally does the trick, but I’ve kind of been using my leather jacket as something of an undercoat for an extra layer…which doesn’t look too shabby! I feel like everyone and their mothers have some kind of leopard coat, but I find them completely and utterly chic, so I’m not ashamed of owning one myself. By the way, you must must check out these killer motorcycle boots I scored at Dear Fieldbinder. There really is no better pair. All I wear now are flat boots. Perfect for trekking around the city. I spent this weekend with my sister Dylana. All we had on our mind was Christmas shopping (aka I bought HER a bunch of gifts). I guess it’s so much easier to shop for someone when they are actually there rather than surprising them with gifts they’d never really use. Basically, I had a really relaxed weekend of shopping, seeing a few of my favorite bands place in the LES, and eating out. This week is already looking crazy w/ events, shoots, and a quick trip to Philly. Then comes the fun part…packing for the holidays in California. I’m dying to take back half my wardrobe because my closet is overflowing and has refused to close for quite some time. I just know the apartment is going to look like one big mess by the time I’m done with it!

The Young Folk

(P&T Italy Faux Fur coat, Vintage vest, Mango blouse and bag, Volcom Brand jeans, Samantha Wills Jewelry, Dolce Vita boots)

I really do miss my vintage wardrobe, most of which I didn’t get to bring with me to NYC. But no worries, everything is still safely put away in my extra closet back in LA. My sister, Dylana, queen of boho cool, always inspires me to whip out something a little unusual in my wardrobe. She surprised me the other day with this amazing vintage crochet wool vest which she purchased at the Urban Philly sample sale. Yes, the navy yard in Philly has frequent sample sales with everything vintage, Free People, Urban, and Anthro all at incredibly cheap prices. I’m dying to attend for the next one just to find more pieces like these. Not only has my style swayed a bit to the more bohemian side lately, I’m also getting back into some folk music that I haven’t listened to in ages. My Pandora playlist has top artists like Bob Dylan and Fleetwood Mac on repeat. Speaking of which, I always feel like a folksy rockstar in this faux fur coat sent from Italy. And of course, my jewelry collection is continually overflowing. I just came home to package from Samantha Wills in Australia containing the most beautiful wooden carved box. I nearly died, it was so pretty! Inside was filled with all sorts of treasures…from stacked lion heads to giant rings encrusted with gold cobra snakes. I love accessories with the most unexpected details. Looking down at my hands adorned with pretty jewels makes me, well, embarrassingly giddy. Take a peek inside my new Samantha Wills treasure trove:

Next Stop: Jerusalem

(Necessary Clothing sweater, J Brand jeans, Persol sunglasses, Vintage Cole Haan boots)
There is one city out there that is just captivating, and that is Jerusalem. It was probably one of my very favorite parts of my Israel trip. You won’t believe it but I literally woke up exactly 5 minutes before our tour bus was about to take off! I have no idea why I decided not to call the front desk for a wake up call…on the most important morning of all times! So yes, I panicked, literally screamed “shit, shit, shit” to myself as I hopped out of bed. I didn’t get to do my hair..but just brushed my teeth, packed a lipstick, and threw on this outfit (which I also wore on the plane). Not too shabby for a 5 minute fixer upper. I go down to the lobby in record time and everyone is still waiting for the bus. HALLELUJAH. Oh, but things do get more crazy. I was told I had a few minutes to grab a coffee and of course I stupidly believed them and left to grab one, only to come back to an empty lobby and NO BUS IN SIGHT. I freaked. Did everyone get abducted by aliens or something? Luckily my friend called me to tell me to hop in a cab and make it to the next hotel where the bus had left to pick up the other editors. As you can see, I DID end up making the bus. The whole morning was absolutely insane, but in the end, I was just sooo happy I made it. The 8:10 am call time was definitely worth it. I had the most amazing Thanksgiving in Jerusalem. We ate holy food, drank wine, and did all sorts of crazy things (like sneak away from our tour guide…more on that later) The one day felt like a week, as we saw so many things, met so many people, and basically had an out of this world experience. You probably want to know what went down when we actually got there. Well, now you’ve got me exhausted and I will explain later! The never ending day comes with many more photos 🙂
