My mission this winter was to find the most perfect extra long coat…and I finally got my hands on it at Mackage. Oh, and it’s actually on sale right now babes. Incredible quality, stunning cut, and looks amazing over just about anything. Just thought I’d quickly fill you in before I’m off to Miami. This coat is going to have to wait to come out and play once I’m back in town with my new tan.
The last time I climbed up the Batu Caves in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia I was just a kid. I’d climb the steep steps and hold out a banana, so the monkeys get just close enough before I burst into a squeal, dropping all of my things, and running away! I was pretty daring and rebellious as a kid, always causing a little trouble! But all in good fun. The Batu Caves have a whopping 272 steps. You know, no big deal. But it’s worth the climb, trust me. Whenever I’m back in Malaysia visiting family, I’m always asking them to take me here. The temple and caves are stunning. It’s unreal. I was wrapped up in this beautiful green and red sarong before hiking up the steps. I fell in love with it’s soft fabric, stripes, and bold dragon print. It was the Deepavali Indian festival and the place was packed. People were barefoot, carrying up heavy buckets of rocks to bring to the temple, a part of the tradition, and wearing bold beautiful glittering sarongs and dresses. What I love about the Indian culture is how colorful it is. Everything from the traditional outfits, to the food and spices. The steps a faded red and yellow, highlighted with the green from the trees growing high on the side of the mountains. There were monkeys running this way and that! The locals tell you to told to hold onto you bags…they’ll really come that close! But once I made it to the top, I took a really deep breath and soaked in all of it’s beauty. The caves are stunning. Tall with only pockets of light keeping the place lit along with rows of tiny candles. It started to pour the moment we made it to the top. It was refreshing to stick your hand out in the caves to feel the fresh water pouring through. Kids dancing in the puddles in their bright outfits. You do sort of feel like your on top of the world. We didn’t really mind getting stuck up there as we waited for the rain to stop. It was comforting knowing a big plate of curry banana leaf was just a moment away.
It’s only rock n’ roll, but I like it. A lot. Especially when it comes from Zadig et Voltaire…the epitome of French girl cool. I love visiting the team whenever I’m in Paris. Everyone’s got their perfect wool blazers. Stacked on rings. A messy head of hair. No makeup. But that’s what I love about Zadig et Voltaire. They’ve created clothing that accentuate you…whatever rock n’ roll goddess mood you’re in that day. And of course, in your most effortless, laid-back, beautiful way. And guess what? It’s almost time for their big Black Friday SALE. I say go for these staple leather pants this Black Friday. I snagged this black ensemble because head-to-toe black is pure rock n’ roll now isn’t it? Classic and totally essential this winter. I gave it a pop of red with my vintage coat. To me, leather pants with a buckled, studded-to-perfection western boot are a match made in heaven. It is what I’ll be wearing to the local dive bar here in Brooklyn, and back home on the West Coast, strolling down Abbot Kinney on New Year’s. Zadig et Voltaire nails this effortless look perfectly. It’s that je ne sais quoi. I quickly swiped on a little winged eyeliner, and gave a little shake in my hair. What would Stevie Nicks do?! When I’m gearing up for a show to perform at, or seriously having an OFF DUTY moment, I go for head-to-toe black. There’s a part of me that’s got a bit of Mick Jagger. But it’s truly the French girls that effortless rock n’ roll simplicity super well.

Just because it’s freezing out does not mean I cancel my plans! The holidays give me more reason to simply throw on a glamorous coat and go out! This Maximilian mink coat caught my eye with it’s stunning tie-dye pattern and retro fit as I was strolling through Bloomingdale’s…they seem to always have what I’m looking for. Right when I put it on I thought “must be a Maximilian.” I gave it a little vintage twist with a silk button-down, leather mini, and my favorite fishnet tights. A little downtown rock n’ roll mixed with a luxurious uptown feel. With the holidays, I play with a lot of yummy textures. This coat is so soft to touch, and so easy to throw on over a little party dress. The holidays are my time of year to wear everything in my closet that is really dramatic and beautiful! This is a look I want to strut down 5th Avenue in with my best friends before a good holiday cocktail. Soooo gossip girl.
