What a sweet way to end 2015, and begin 2016! This year has been BEYOND amazing, and there are so many amazing adventures to come this new year that I can’t wait to tell you about. Thank you ELLE China for such an amazing write-up, and photoshoot. IT-GIRL?! I’ll take it! Being half Chinese, it’s been amazing connecting with my heritage and with my readers on the other side of the world. This story was all about “magpie” style, aka taking a cue from your grandmother’s closet which I’m a total sucker for. Magpie being that beautiful bird that was seen stitched to dresses all over the Gucci runway. Taking that aesthetic and combining it with my own touch of rock n’ roll. You know I love a good vintage inspired print and old school embellishments. We played with a lot of Gucci for this shoot, along with Tory Burch, Loewe, and Bottega Veneta. Mixed with my winter essentials: furry beanies, nordic coats, and killer lace-up shoes. Eclectic, granny approved, but a whole lot more youthful and fun.

The best thing about the 90’s was the sportswear. 90’s Tommy Hilfiger in New York City to be exact. Baggy basketball shorts. Bandeau bras. And lip gloss. Fresh off the runway, this sporty set brings back what Tommy is all about. All-American youth. Rebels without a cause. Destroying the streets of NYC one Lower East Side party at a time. Reds, whites, and blues. Some of my favorite NYC 90’s babes? The too-cool-for-school Chloe Sevigny. The always smiling young and innocent Kate Moss. Liv Tyler with her cigarette and Chuck Taylors in Times Square. Christy Turlington making even a tracksuit look glamourous. Though I love a good flash-back look, I’m still keeping up with our crazy digital age, with the new MIRA fitness bracelet that I recently discovered. Synced to my app, it keeps track of your activities…steps, distance, and elevation. So when I’m kicking your butt at boxing, you know what’s up.

A perfect pantsuit like this just gives you an empowering feeling. Like you could jam all night, hit the stage, or in this case, take on Miami’s South Beach in the middle of the winter. This baby was made by my gal pals over at For Love & Lemons and I’m in love with their latest collection. A lot of rock n’ roll, a bit of Mick Jagger flair, complete with killer prints that could have been pulled out of Janis Joplin’s closet. Blending in perfectly with Miami’s Art Deco architecture. We had just hopped off the plane from NYC, and had a weekend with one jam packed schedule. Late night dinners with old friends, boat rides blasting Britney Spears, and the best part, a whole city covered in art to explore and capture.

Every party needs a little inspiration and this time,  I’m taking some cues from Absolut’s new limited edition Electrik bottle and hosting an intimate gathering with a few friends complete with tunes and good times.

Not only are we obsessed with the beautiful electric blue and silver bottles (so chic), but with Absolut, we can create all of our favorite holiday mixed drinks, and listen to our favorite tunes. My whole life revolves around music. We always just need a few of our favorite records out…I’m talking Jimi Hendrix, Nancy SinatraVan Morrison, Fleetwood Mac and Bob Dylan. All artists that inspire my very own music. I love gathering my friends together to go through my collection of records and playing all of our favorites. Dancing and drinking with the city lights as our backdrop. And of course, there will always be someone who brings out my keyboard and guitar. It is times like these, with my friends and having little jam session that we start coming up with melodies and some fun lyrics that I then want to take into the studio. Talking and just laughing with friends is when we come up with some of our favorite phrases that eventually turn into songs. We decided and start to “electrify” our night with a delicious, refreshing Apple Cider Moscow Mule. It’s perfect for the holidays. Fill your room with candles, and fresh flowers, and make this easy delicious cocktail before a night of slamming on our guitars at sunset.

What You’ll Need Per Glass:

Absolut Original Vodka (1.5 ounce)

All-Natural Apple Cider (4 oz)

Ginger Ale (or Ginger Beer) (6 oz)

Cinnamon (sprinkled at the end for extra flavor)

Fresh gala apples (slice up, and add at the end!)

My playlist that inspired my own tunes:

“Hollywood Forever Cemetary Sings” by Father John Misty

“Summer Wine” by Nancy Sinatra

“Coffee” by Sylvan Esso

“Fool in the Rain” Led Zeppelin

“White Room” by Cream

“The Pusher” by Steppenwolf

“I Know There’s Gonna be Good Times” by Jamie XX

“The Hills” by The Weeknd
