#JustPassingThrough Chinatown

reef-girls-1

It is definitely still HOT here in the city. Nothing but slinky dresses will do. And you know how obsessed I am with Reef rover sneakers?! The shoe I take from the beach after a day of surfing, and still get to the bar at night to dance the night away. For now, I’ll be in Chinatown stocking up on sriracha, noodles, and tofu for a few days back home in the city. After so much traveling and having the New York Fashion Week flu, I can’t wait to cook up a little storm in my kitchen. Where to next?! I’m off to Columbis, Ohio for work on Friday. Constantly packing. Constantly taking air-borne.

MODERN WOMAN

Natalie-Suarez-x-Lauren-Engel-x-C-Heads-7

Thank you C-Heads Magazine for featuring me as your “Modern Woman”! Glad to share reasons for my love of Indian curry, what camera I photograph with, and why it’s awesome having a sister! For our shoot, I went with a vintage bell-sleeve blouse I thrifted in Chicago for 2 bucks, my favorite cowgirl top, and some 70’s flares.

Read the interview now with more images from our photoshoot at Columbia University! It’s cool to be in school.

NICARAGUA ON HORSEBACK

truereligion-3

Sunsets in Nicaragua are absolutely stunning. We decided to ride horseback to the beach for that dreamy moment. 4:45pm get on horseback. 6:15pm finally arrive on the beach just in time for that pastel pink sky that somehow turns a bright orange just before nightfall. What I love most is the freedom that comes with riding a horse. The cool breeze. Taking a much slower pace. Really getting to exlore what was around Maderas Village. Just the sound from the horse’s hooves and the monkeys howling in the trees. We galloped past farms and through dirt roads just as we felt a few raindrops hit our heads. Yes, it’s rain season in Nicaragua meaning we were just about to get completely soaked! Luckily, I came prepared. The entire trip, I have been living in the True Religion Audrey Boyfriend jean. Classic, and slightly baggy, but tapered at the hem. As the rain started to hit, I had to take off my beach cover up to stuff in my bag, to keep my camera safe through the storm. Leaving me with just jeans and a crochet bra. Now that’s island life attire. I quickly snapped some video on my GoPro (film to come soon!) at magic hour before jumping back on my horse. The warm bed in our hut and a watermelon margerita the only thing on my mind. We arrived totally drenched, but unable to stop smiling. And who doesn’t want to get kissed in the rain?

GIGLIO ISLAND

porto-santo-stefano-boat

I went behind the wheel of our tiny motor boat at Isola Giglio, a beautiful little island off the coast of Tuscany, Italy. We had nothing but the open sea and a soaked, torn map. As we sped past giant rocks surrounded the main land, we found peaceful little beaches on the coast to anchor down, and do some swimming. I went with just a classic black bikini, a cotton dress, and tons of sunscreen. As we started speeding, my hat flew straight into the ocean! Luckily, the sea was calm and I reached in a grabbed it before it completely disappeared. You can’t separate a girl and her hat. We were sun drunk and I don’t think I’ve ever been this happy. I couldn’t wait for a long nap on the way home. Our hotel deck was the perfect relaxtion spot for our last day in the dreamy Porto Santo Stefano. I did nothing but finish my book and practice flips with the boys. But we were craving pizza. And we wanted the best. So where to next?! NAPLES.
