WHAT’S THAT SOUND

70s-style-3

You know how you have that one item you never ever want to get rid of? This silk blouse is it. If only it came in every color of the rainbow, right? My closet would be full of them. This is the ultimate ON DUTY / OFF DUTY uniform. A classic top and necktie, my favorite black skinnies from BLK Denim, and a good pair of boots. The more simple the better. Man, it’s a bit since I’ve worn a good ol’ pair of boots. Totally necessay when you’re jamming in the recording studio on your feet all day. As of late, I’ve been experimenting with so many different projects that I’m still trying to wrap my head around things, and figure out what I’ll be doing next. Passion the only driving force. Music is definitely a place where I feel I’m growing, learning, and becoming more and more in love with. Taking risks is all part of the process…until you make magic. Stay tuned.

TO INDEPENDENCE | REEF

unnamed-132

When I think of Independence Day, I don’t just think of barbecues and fireworks and the Hamptons. It’s really about sitting back and thinking how absolutely amazing the good ol’ USA really is. Appreciating our mountains, our oceans, our cultures, our food. I’m traveling all of the time, and nothing feels better than home. Though I will be traveling in Italy today, I still have the smell of smoke from the bbq’s back home in LA and sounds of champagne bottles popping on my NYC rooftop replaying in my mind. Every year I wear denim. My red, white, and blue. That star spangled banner ringing in my ears. And the best pair of Reef sandals made for being on the beach, at the park, or like this year: somewhere off the map. The REEF ROVER HI SANDALS go with everything I own.

24 HOURS IN NOLA

NOLA-1

I had just landed in New Orleans, and I get a text from Sarah, the Saint Claude jewelry designer, that said “You’re here?! You better come see me.” The girls and I had just landed in NOLA for the first time, and I was lucky enough to have a friend who was a local. It was hot and humid, so we slowly walked to the Garden District to Sarah’s home. I remember she sent me a necklace, and inside had fresh lavender from her garden. The smell filled in my entire apartment. They felt as if they were freshly picked…not sitting in the mail for days. Now I got to see her cozy home in person. The thing about NOLA is that the houses are extremely narrow, but long. Very long. They’re huge! We scoured her design studio. It had that Southern rock n’ roll charm. We decked ourselves out in her rings, arrow necklaces, and earrings before heading into the night. This Louisiana native knew exactly where to go. We hopped in a car to Bywater…a cool, underground district known for it’s good wine and music. I could have stayed there all night long. We got dropped off back in the French Quarter, and got stopped in our tracks by a group of teenage boys all playing the saxophone. Mesmerized by their energy. Soulful tunes blasted from every bar. Eventually we found ourselves seated at a quiet pizza joint…only to realize we got so caught up we never checked out at the last bar. NOLA nights never really end.
