UNDER THE RAINBOW// LULUS AT COACHELLA

(Lulu’s white kimono and sunglasses, SIWY denim boyfriend jeans, BCBGeneration fringe top, Marie Turnor backpack, Vanessa Mooney necklace, MODERN VICE biker boots)
After Coachella, you sort of feel you need a vacation. This is me right now…totally POOPED. But I absolutely LOVE, LOVE festival season. The quick and easy way of throwing on looks…playing with crazy layers of lace, fringe, and tie-dye. It’s the music, the rock n’ roll, and it’s the dirt and dust that gets me going….inspiring me to get dressed in the morning. “What am I not afraid to get dirty in?!” and “Why is my suitcase once again overflowing?” I was daring this year. Sporting white on white as I sat down on the grass…my Lulu’s floorlength kimono like my wings for the night, forever blowing in the wind behind me as I ran from tent to tent in the dark.
Luckily, work has brought me to California, my hometown, yet again. Waking up at the Sunset Tower hotel, I was already jetlagged, but I was SOOO ready for a weekend getaway, hopping first thing in the car. And away we went to Palm Springs, picking up my sister along the way! Coachella always feel like the longest weekend of my life. And when it’s all over, you just wish you could start all over again, but maybe just giving yourself a few more minutes by the pool! There’s that time just when the sun is going down that is just magical in Indio. I could lay and doze off, looking to the clouds as the sun fades away. We drove early Friday morning under the desert sun…our feather headresses and shoes thrown into the backseat of our car. The lineup schedule shining off our phones. I had Lana Del Rey, Foxygen, Arcade Fire, and Ty Segall on my mind…with a sprinkle of Kid Cudi and Pharrell to make the festival EXTRA insane. I’ve walked away from Coachella sleepless yet once again, still inspired. A little desert getaway does a body good. BORN TO DIE currently on repeat tonight because that particular Lana album is the best way to ring in another amazing summer. Goodnight Los Angeles.

THAT VELVET STEP

(Modern Vice custom velvet boots, Theonne jacket, Rebecca Taylor top, W Concept leather skirt, Hugo Boss bag, Worth & Worth x Natalie Suarez HAT)
There is SO SO much I love about a velvet boot. I had my boyfriend bust out these burgundy velvet Modern Vice boots in the factory just before NYFW. Yep, that”s right. Custom-made to perfection. I’m in LA for work, and soon-to-be Coachella bound, but I’ve still got so much from winter to show you. Desert, palm trees, and leather shorts and sandals are going to have to wait till tomorrow. This NYFW look just happens to be one of my absolute favorite looks from all the show madness. Burgundy and brown plaids just warm my heart. Oh, and who can forget my chauffer’s cap designed by me and Worth & Worth…currently on Refinery 29 as Editor’s top PICKS! Now how cool is that? Now you know why this look in particular is special to me.
Everything I love, created by the people I love, all in one look I can’t wait to wear again and again.
For now, I’m busting out the gladiator sandals and oversize shades. Good morning Hollywood. Follow my latest adventures now on INSTAGRAM!

IT’S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN// COACHELLA

Taking the open road and letting it swallow you whole. Into a world of popping color and dust and sand, swirling all around you. I can’t wait to drive down to La Quinta come Friday, to dance in the desert sun. NYC winter, I deserve a break! The clunk of our arm cuffs, and the jingle of the coins on our tassels. We make the music every move we make. The paint dripping from our faces. I love festival season only because I can wear the bare minimal. Leather shorts, crochet bralettes, and loads of feathers. Best with a good, brown tan. Currently inspired thanks to the new Planet Blue lookbook…and others, from my Pinterest.
Time to lift those fringe wings and fly on out of here. A girl could use a desert getaway.

MINNETONKA LOOKBOOK// SUNSOAKED MUSIC FEST

IT’S FINALLY HERE! Our MINNETONKA MOCCASINS lookbook…extra inspired by the au natural WILD, WILD WEST. Talk about a dream project for both Dylana and I. We took our top favorite mocs and got to shoot at SXSW’s Heartbreaker BANQUET in AUSTIN, TEXAS…at the epic Willie Nelson ranch, shooting with the creative director. During our shoot, we took mini breaks to watch our favorite artists on the stage…the whole atmosphere, happening to be the perfect settting for our lookbook. With the dust on our boots, and the sun beating on our faces…we found shelter on the rugs under the oak trees, and kept our shades on while on the swings by the chapel. I needed the sun, that’s for sure! We took some of our favorite pieces from Free People for the lookbook, mixing in our favorites. That Denim & Supply fringed suede jacket really topped everything all off. MINNETONKA is all about the free spirited wanderer…you just slip those babies on and go. Effortless and easy. All I need for music festival season. TEXAS BABY, TEXAS.
