NATIVE GLITTER

(VOGUE Germany Jan ’14// CHANEL Dallas runway looks// For Love & Lemons S/S ’14//The 2 Bandits lookbook)
Here’s a mas-hup of what’s been bottled up inside my head. The Chanel DALLAS runway show literally got me craving cactus, Texas, and a WHOOOLE lot of fringe. The artics are a’ coming to NYC this week and now I’ve got some seriously new ideas on how to stay warm….the native way! Oh, and nothing can beat a little glitter and shine. Talk about some seroiusly silver cheeckbones. But yes, I’m getting back into my heavy necklaces and fringed handbags, and oversize printed knits in reds, blacks, and whites. Maybe you’ll even see a feather sticking in my hat. That…or taking a trip to Guatemala. The latest S/S ’13 For Love & Lemons lookbook has me wishing of lightweight sexy dresses, metal arm bands, and a good tan. You know, just au natural…drifting away in a field of horses. Is it too early to wish for another city getaway?

STONE COLD

(Etnia Barcelona sunglasses, Bluma Project scarf, Eternal Sunshine Creations plaid shirt, H&M vest, MiH jeans, GAP gloves, “Natalie + Dylana Suarez x MODERN VICE” Free People “arianna’ BOOT)
THANK GOD IT’S FRIDAY! I’ve got an hour till I’m back in the studio for work, and managed to squeeze in a little TGIF loving. Oh, how I miss the city snow! But luckily, I haven’t found the need to shove gloves into the bottom of my handbag. Instead, I’ve been living in these blue oversize shades and sloppily getting snow all over our Free People JETT “Arianna” boots! WOOPS. Anyways, I love a blue POP against a clear, white snowy palette. I opted for extra long and loose plaid layers, and my favorite blue jeans, managing to take a moment to peek into this beautiful Nolita park that I walk by almost every single day, yet it’s always fenced off and untouched. It’s where I’d sneak to late in the night to watch a “movie in the park” on those hot summer days, leaning on a tall statue. Just this once it happened happened to be open to the public over the winter. With the statues and lion heads stared at me from all directions, I plopped down with a friend on the stone bench and looked up into the clouds. Seeing blue and all.

LAVAND// STYLING SPRING/SUMMER ’14

LAVAND S/S ’14 lookbook

Shot by: Heidi Edwards
Styling: Natalie Suarez
Model: Daisy Clementine
I had the best time working with Spanish brand, LAVAND, in styling their S/S ’14 lookbook! Shot in Huntington Beach, California, at Grass Monkeys HQ, our outdoor studio was absolutely killer. Besides the grassy studio, we were thinking of the true LAVAND girl. She’s lives by her very own dresscode, combining bold hues and intricate prints into versatile looks that can be worn so many different ways. The collection has so many beautiful floral prints and artistic patterns alongside perfect solid statement pieces. Each print telling a story and taking me to a different place. The woven hats, the printed maxi halter. I’m a total patterns girl and so I loved doing a full head-to-toe print. So chic with full, wavy hair, or the complete oppositite…a STICK STRAIGHT look. I love the volumized to super clean hair looked on our model babette, Daisy. Each look, sophisticated yet still fresh and playful. I happen to just LOVE the first look we shot: a black and red bold printed tank and high waisted skirt, with a fitted cropped cardigan thrown over. Talk about pure perfection with a pair of simple black pumps. I love you Lavand and honestly had too good of a time with such an amazing and fun crew. And umm, talk about MAJOR BABES on set! Model/Musican, Model/Stylist, Model/Photographer. I guess we’re all that girl…ones who like to do just about everything in life. Take a peek at our behind-the-scenes video to take a closer glimpse!

All the vintage pieces in my wardrobe always hold a really warm spot in my heart. The fit, the prints, oh, and all the beautiful textures you can’t find anywhere else. Pieces I’ll keep for decades. Here is my very very special curated collection for this year’s Manhattan Vintage Show! I feel pretty honored to chosen this year after megababes like Mara Hoffman and DanniJo! The Manhattan Vintage Show is that place where top designers, stylists, and myself go for that once in a lifetime inspiration. My collection holds about 25 of my favorite pieces. This little green YSL hat, zig-zagged knit sweater, and midi green dress. Shot on a super rainy NYC day, just off 5th avenue, I didn’t want to stop playing dress-up the entire afternoon.
