The Lavender Farm in Maui was perched high up on the hill in the middle of the island. On a morning so foggy, you could only see clouds rolling out into the ocean below. Peaceful. I couldn’t wait to awake my senses as scent and fragrances are some of my favorite things to discover. My powder room has a whole shelf dedicated to perfumes from around the world, lavender being something I love to lather on my body before bed. It’s a scent that just makes me melt. Lucky for us, the lavender fields were in bloom….they smelled so fresh and delicate. I wanted to pluck the whole garden and take it home with me! It’s a soft, feminine, yet so powerful scent. One to pluck and stick in a book to dry up to keep forever.

This is the ultimate summer playsuit. Made for hula hooping on the grass, playing in the gardens, and camping under the hot, southern sun. We’re talking overalls with one strap down…can you get any more 90’s than that? Bucket hats. Striped bikinis. Palazzo pants. So much about the 90’s is distinct, with everything from it’s style to it’s music. Opening Ceremony has brought back summer in the 90’s unlike anyone else, and with the very classic and colorful energy of Esprit. A look to jam in to everything from the Backstreet Boys to Britney.

So much of this summer has revolved around these pin-striped flared pants. They’re so rock n’ roll. I love them best slipped on over a good bikini. On the beach, anything goes. And especially in Montauk, a place I miss dearly. It’s the scent of Montauk I miss. A mix of salt, wood, and rain. It’s the sounds. On the east coast, it’s so comforting to fall asleep to the lullaby of rain pattering and waves crashing. Everyday is unpredictable. It’s the color of the green lush surrounding the cliffs I miss. The feeling you get after a good surf in your wet suit. And I can’t stop smiling. The year has flown by like no other, and sometimes like all of us, I forget to stop, smile, and breath. So right now I want you to stop and feel proud of all the places you’ve gotten to travel to. All the things that pushed you out of your comfort zone. All of the things that made you open your eyes, your ears. Feel proud of your accomplishments. And don’t stop now. Be proud of having the ability to open up to new people. To be vulnerable. The ability to make new, genuine friends that’ll last a lifetime. Be proud that you’re free. And keep on creating stories…and releasing your inner goofball along the way.

Where to next? I’m off to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia this week. I’m very excited for a warmer climate. To see my family on my mother’s side. To explore the country’s colorful and vibrant culture. The beautiful beaches of Penang. The food markets of Melaka. There’s so much to see. I can hardly wait.

It’s official. The block heel is timeless. It’ll never go out of style. And it’s the summer’s hottest shoe. I scored this beautiful lace-up by Tabitha Simmons at Farfetch The unique thing about Farfetch is that you can shop the world’s most luxurious and special boutiques all in one place. I already have my eyes on a pair of Valentino flats, being shipped from Italy. But back to the classic black block heel. For us tall ladies, it’s the perfect height. I kept it super minimal with black and white…a summer classic. There’s something sexy about an oversize white button-up. Maybe it’s because it’s so easy and cool. Like you didn’t try one bit after getting out of bed in the morning. Keep it simple, and let your shoes pop.
