ON THE GO IN MILANO

Milan this past Milan Fashion Week was the coldest it’s ever felt for me. This huge shearling coat was my best friend this past season…that along with a great pair of tights and over-the-knee boots. Now that I’m living in tee-shirts and jeans here in Los Angeles, I forget how much I adore these luxurious textures and pieces in my closet. I kept myself super busy with fashion week appointments and shows, which made me somewhat forget how brutally chilly it was outside. My rule: keep moving. As an LA native, I am shocked at how well I handle these intense winters. Maybe it’s because I literally never stop. My mind is always elsewhere…the weather will just have to do!

Some of my Milan highlights this season were Bally and Tommy Hilfiger. Completely different, yet both relatable to my style. Bally felt fresh and youthful this season, with a classic 70’s twist with bright red shearling collars and retro black chelsea boots. It was a very sleek and sophisticated take on vintage classics. Tommy’s show was on the sporty, All-Americana side of the spectrum. Think biker shorts and striped race car driver moto jackets and leather pants. I left Milan feeling inspired as ever, though the jet lag was officially kicking in. Despite crazy weather, we explored, we ate, and we met a lot of wonderful people. I even got to do the lucky spin for the first time ever in the heart of the Duomo! I am just happy to look back and see we’ve survived one very intense and very cold fashion month. Since then, I’ve been traveling again yet taking things a little bit slower. I’m home in LA this weekend. It’s a good 90 degrees and I’ll be by the pool and hot tub for most of the afternoon. All that hard work and travel has really paid off. Time to enjoy what the new season has to offer.

THE SHINY SILK SKIRT

Taken on the streets of a very gold and glowing Milan, I love how easy it is to dress up a simple shirt and trainers (I still can’t stop wearing my custom Fendi sneakers. How cute are they?) Just add a little silk and pop of color and voila, done. I can’t wait for spring so I can whip out this beautiful pink bad boy again. It’s such a statement piece. I really do miss Milan and it’s beauty. I’ll be back soon enough. There’s still so much to see and go! For now, it’s really just a quiet Saturday at home in NYC. My suitcase is all packed up for London (I fly out this evening) and I’ve got a cup of coffee by my side. This is my favorite time of day. It’s so calm and refreshing and I finally have time to sit down and chat with you guys. While I’m away, I have a stunning new couch delivered to my home…my fashion month schedule will be solidified and organized, and I just can’t wait to power through one of the most hectic months of the year. Home is once again beginning to feel a lot more important and I love the idea of switching it around and making it feel new again. As I’m always in and out, I’m cherishing the quiet moments at home with my loved ones. May this crazy month feel like a breeze!

PRINT PLAY IN MILANO

When I’m in Milano for work, I’m a bit more fearless when it comes to my style. Think oversize silk blouses and a slouchy pair of menswear trousers in completely mis-matched prints. I cannot wait for another Milan Fashion Week. I’m so inspired by the city’s daring love for high fashion. The women ooze a certain confidence, and it’s expressed in what they wear. For example, no matter your age or style, Milano women will slip into a pair of stilettos just to head to a casual lunch. Italians enjoy the finer things in life, like a beautiful hand-made Italian shoe, and I appreciate every single bit of it. Here I am by the Duomo in what feels much like the heart of Milan. It’s a place to people watch, window shop, and take licks of gelato and endless splurges of spaghetti. I am currently spending my Saturday looking at my calendar and planning February. I already know it’s going to feel like the longest month of the year. Between fashion weeks and other projects, the team and I will be hopping from city to city just about every week: LA, NYC, Colorado, Milan, Ohio, Paris. Time to whip out my suitcase yet again. Packing is going to be absolutely insane. As for March, I’m looking forward to hanging out a ton in a bikini. I’ll be escaping to Central America, where all there is on the horizon are sandy beaches, Coronas, and sunshine. Time to breathe get through February first!

ALL ABOUT ETRO

Etro does prints and beautiful silks unlike anyone else. It’s pure romance…a mix of whimsical flowers and vines in a stunning neutral color palette with a touch of rock n’ roll. The little pop of salmon pink is just so gorgeous. This fall, as I begin to layer up, I’m using prints to make a statement. I love pairing these flowing wide-leg pants with something super simple, like a perfectly tailored double-breasted blazer. Taking something majestic and bringing it back down to earth. This was shot in the middle of Milan Fashion Week, where the wardrobe is loader, bolder, and a lot more fun! Italians like to indulge in decadence and luxury as more is just more, more, more! The same goes for pasta. Here as the sun went down by the Navigli canal, the city turned gold and I was comforted by the scent of delicious neapolitan pizza cooking from the rows and rows of restaurants. Amidst the MFW madness and walking in heels, I was so ready to tuck into a tiny cafe, order a bottle of wine, and call it a night with my gal pals. This weekend will certainly be one to stay in and tuck away before jumping into another crazy week. I just got back to NYC for work after a 6am flight from Los Angeles. Boy, does this lady need a nap! These gorgeous Etro pants will have to make it’s next head-turning appearance on a more eventful night!
