MACY’S// THE NEXT STYLE STAR// SHINE EPISODE

Macy’s THE NEXT STYLE STAR episode featuring judges: Natalie Suarez + Whitney Port
Host: Jeannie Mai
My latest addiction is the new MACY’S The Next Style Star show…and it was incredible being a style judge alongside Whitney Port, for a few episodes! We’re a few episodes into this competition, and my first episode appearance is officially out now!
This episode takes our two NEXT STYLE STAR contestants, both California natives, Jasmine Vo and Melinda Choothesa, in a SHINE challenge, inspired by a shimmer eyeshadow, and matte-lip make-up look. With that, they were allowed to scour the incredible MACY’s IMPULSE collection with our  amazing host, Jeannie Mai (such an incredible ball of energy!), and create one standout look for their models…each accentuating the metallic SHINE trend. Both of these girls were literally so amazing, and it was SO, SO hard to choose one winner. Their drive in this competition made it all the more exciting for Whitney and I to see what they put together. So much passion and love for what they do. As a stylist, you definitely have to know your “girl.” Who are you styling for? It an event? Is it an editorial photoshoot? Both girls were spot on with who their MACY’s Impulse girls were. They both have their very own aesthetics and visions…in both an editorial and streetstyle/wearable way. It was so fun meeting these creative ladies and getting to see how they played with the MACY’S Impulse collection. Both looks were very city chic and super on-point with the metallic shine trend that I’m such a fan of!

Watch the entire episode to see the winner…who will receive a $5,000 reward and also a step into the final stage of the competition.

The show is my addiction, and I keep watching for episode after episode. Watch the SHINE episode here to see the winner!

LET’S GO SURFING NOW

(BCBGeneration surf top and bikini bottom, DANNIJO choker (similar) and cuff, Quay sunglasses, The 2 Bandits arrow cuff (similar), Ax + Apple earrings)
There is seriously so much I love right now about the classic surf top. It’s a bit tomboy, but in this adorable floral print…it’s got a feminine, RETRO touch. With festival season, I’m trying to find as much time as possible by the pool. I’m still counting my bikinis, attempting to book a beach getaway for each pair. So far I’ve got Montauk on my list! This two-piece will surely look better with a surfboard and a tan. Here, I was shot in Palm Springs with all my galpals, at Coachella (where else?!) just before the festival madness. Nothing beats breakfast by the pool and the smell of chlorine on a sunny Saturday morning.
NYC is finally warming up. Today felt like summer, and after my meetings, I sat in Central Park on the grass in nothing but a denim romper, and let the sun bronze my shoulders. I can officially smell HOT summer in the city. The sweat, the sunscreen. Time to get bikini ready my friends.

HOLLYWOOD DREAMING

You get this funny tingling feeling when you wake up on the Sunset Strip, to the perfect glowing sunrise. I put on my glasses, and headed towards the window. The tiny houses perched on the hills. The sun so hard in your face you have to squint. Hollywood is well, Hollywood. I know it all too well. I grew up in LA. Everyone wants to make it. The Sunset Strip is known for it’s glitz and glamour, studios, and movie sets. The parties, the rock n’ roll. I was just in LA for a shoot, and checked right in at the Sunset Tower Hotel. I was so jetlagged that I woke up at 5am tossing and turning, wishing it was my calltime already so that I could hop in the car and go to work. Instead, I waited till the sunrise, did some stretching, and started to unpack.
I have a brand new travel bag. The GUCCI bamboo tote.
It’s seriously my life. And it’s GORGEOUS beyond belief. Your friends will just want to hold it and stoke it all day if you let them.
Then, there are the heels. Carlos Pazolini platforms.
I’m very much a boots girl, but these are SO beautiful that I love them just set on my drawers to look at.
Oh, and did I mention the bougainvillea. I stop and take a photo everytime I spot a beautiful lush corner off Melrose Boulevard.
LA, I still love you.

LONDON// COLOUR IN THE RAIN

(VEDA leather jacket, Elizabeth & James sunglasses, Wildfox Couture gingham sweater, Free People skirt, H&M vest, Zara scarf, Hugo Boss handbag, Modern Vice boots)
With the London rain, the city had me holding onto the hem of my skirt for dear life! The colour of my hair, fresh off my L’oreal Paris shoot, so vibrant against the dreary sky. I left my hotel in Covent Garden extra early this day…making it just on time to Notting Hill for brunch at the Electric Diner. Avocado on toast please! With the craziness of NYFW and landing straight in London for LFW after a red-eye flight, all I wanted to do was take a chill day. Forget the heels and oversize camel coats slung over one’s shoulders (they were literally everywhere, I couldn’t look anymore!), I opted for my go-to travel boots, and loads of plaid and touch of gingham. It wasn’t until I stepped outside did my friend notice, “you packed a lot of plaid!” Yep, and I love to mix them, so long as I don’t match! Leather jacket, extra long vest, and round sunnies….I didn’t pack much else. But that’s what I love. I’m slowly becoming a minimal packer, with a much more simplified closet. Only keeping the good stuff. Like this VEDA leather jacket.
My days in London lasted long, and I covered as much ground as physically possible! This city may be even more beautiful at night, after a good rain. In the mornings, I’d wake up before everyone else, and grab a coffee down the road just as the shop opened, just to take a little walk on my own before a long day. As a model, I feel I’m so used to traveling alone, it’s kind of part of the job, and luckily, my friends in London always keep things super exciting for me. Never ever a dull moment. From the late night gigs in Shoreditch to London’s Brick Lane (always the best fish n’ chips in town!) Though by the end of my trip, I couldn’t keep my eyes open!! I can’t wait till next time London, when I can visit my beautiful Brits again!
