Tree House Stems

(Rebecca Taylor striped top, Vintage Levi’s shorts, Chaser Brand leather jacket, The 2 Bandits cuffs and V rings, Karen London silver ring, Ippolita “silver band” ring, Vintage Ferragamo sandals)
There is something about tree houses that I love. The climb up, the sun shining through the windows, the little ladybugs climbing up the vines. It’s pure and simple, and I could stay up there forever. While I was away, my boyfriend looked up all of the secret spots in the city. This being one of them. He’s always one to pleasantly surprise me when I’m least expecting it. It’s the perfect hideout. The little house is surrounded by a gorgeous garden, full of tulips and trees. I could curl up in that little corner forever…and read the Giant Book of Questions and Answers. It’s a place to daydream and wander on the weekends. I went there Saturday…and intentionally ran by it on my morning run Sunday morning just to smell the lush of the Earth for the second day in a row. A simple weekend after weeks of traveling are always needed. Just a striped top, some destoryed denim shorts, and swipe of red-orange lip balm (another Stila item I can’t get enough of) always tucked in the bottom of my bag.
Though the week’s getting crazy, at least I know I can stop by here anytime I want.

Pool Scoop

(Candela dress, Vintage hat, Vintage Ferragamo sandals, Ippolita silver band ring, Ax + Apple longhorn ring, The 2 Bandits paddleboard ring, Stila “After Glow” lip color)
So there’s one dress worth lusting over, and it’s this one. An oversize Candela tunic dress that’s best alone, or over my favorite bikini. I think the embroidery was what brought my attention to this beauty. Back at my house in LA, I’d wear it over my swimsuit before jumping in! Of course, I’m always one who has to scoop up the leaves…and like a prooo. I really don’t mind doing the dirty work when I’m visitng California, I’m just always so happy to be around the people I love. And I’m constantly rediscovering old finds…like my mom’s vintage Ferragamo sandals. The block heel and little ankle buckle is just what I was looking for this season. Sitting in the garage, I begged to bring them back to life once I got back to New York. I was just about to ask the boyfriend to make a similar pair…and I think maybe we will! Mom’s old Ferragamos are always a keeper, and worth the occassional resoling. But what I’m currently super in love with, is Stila’s new lip collection. Before flying off to LA, I received them as a gift, and threw them in bag, knowing that with the sunny California days, I’ll want that super bright pop of lip color. They smell so good, and they’re like those really bright colors I’d find in my mom’s bathroom in the 90’s. So rad. Home will always remind me of that time. The bubblegum pink lipsticks, oversize hats, and block heels. Too good.

Cactus Juice

(Free People “quilted rose” dress and “fold up” leather hat, Vanessa Mooney “longhorn” necklace, Stela 9 patchwork backpack, Maison Scotch  + Soda turqoise ring, “Natalie _ Dylana Suarez x Modern Vice” SUMMER JETT shoe)

I just got back to NYC, and though there’s loads of exciting things happening this week, I’ve still got California in the back of my mind. It was 2 weeks of work, LA style, and one spent like it were the old days with my mom and pops…two of the coolest people I know. Driving me to and from fittings, spending a whole day out if I were on location for a shooting. Anything, they were there. And I honestly cannot wait to see them again! And of course, there’s Dylana. My sister, partner-in-crime, and best friend. We’re always thinking the same thing, it’s almost scary! Anyways, here she snapped me just before our very last day at Coachella. Before sun-down, before the sand storms, and before we both came home and looked in the mirror, only to find a dark brown sand glued to our faces! I wanted to be extra comfortable for the last day during our desert adventure. I slipped into one super soft, oversize quilted dress, and our Modern Vice yellow SUMMER JETT. Getting dressed was easy peasy. Dylana and I both had our suitcases wide open, clothes everywhere…so it’s no surprise she ended up in my Lovers & Friends lace tank and scarf. Sharing is the best. Anyways, this year proves once again that there’s nothing better than the desert sun after a looong winter. Even the cactus, and almost too perfectly paved roads were picture-perfect. Though nights get cold, there’s always the sun in the morning to warm your bones.

Harmonica Tranquility

My family’s LA backyard is forever sun soaked. The white of our chairs has gotten whiter since last year when I was in town, yet the brick’s just as red as it’s always been. We’ve got a simple pool. Square, and almost always has a few scattered leaves thanks to our surrounding trees. All of it make me immediately go back in time. To when Dylana and I were kids, filling up the pool with a water hose from the upper level…to when I had my Sweet 16 and there were crazy hormonal teenagers everywhere, turning the lights of our rec room on and off before running out into the pool with their clothes on. Now, our house is our quiet little getaway. A place to relax and all get back together during the holidays, and a place to escape New York winters. I love our house and always miss it when I’m gone. And because all of my guitars are out in NYC, I’ve been using this harmonica…a little gift from Free People down in Palm Springs. I find myself always keep it in my bag, in case I ever need some music.

For now, I’m just finally catching up on sleep. Tomorrow’s shoot calls for being up at 5 a.m, so it is definitely bedtime for me!
