Follow the Signs

(B.B. Dakota coat, Vintage wool sweater, Supertrash lace dress, Ax+Apple necklace, Giles + Brother cuff gold cuff, Vintage cuff, Stela 9 bag, “Natalie + Dylana Suarez x Modern Vice” cheetah Benni boots)
Driving back into Woodstock, we followed a group of long haired hippies hippies holding signs pointing to the local flea market. Pass the guitarist at the entrance, we saw rows of old trucks and vans with all their little goodies laid out. Can you say heaven? Everyone was from a different part of town. Some were clearly farmers, some handcrafted all their stuff, and others just had loads of junk! I immediately fell for a cuff, straight out of the 70’s, and a tiny pinky ring. It’s so delicate, I’m still afraid to wear it out in fear of it slipping off for good. I also picked up yet another embroidered backpack! With the Bob Marley colors that I love stitched down the front, it was another piece I had to have. Though we were planning on a hike, I still felt the need to dress up a bit. Bring on the furry red coat! This baby hasn’t really left my nyc apartment since last winter and it was about time I take it for a little spin in the woods. What also made it in my suitcase? Our brand spankin’ new Modern Vice cheetah BENNI boot! Freshly made in the NYC factory, they are mint. Even with a little dirt on them, they’re absolutely stunning. Looks like the factory is up and running again tomorrow, after this crazy hurricane! Bring on the BENNIS and JETTS. I can’t wait for life to get back to normal. For now, I’ll be unwrapping all my Woodstock goodies.

Hippies Welcome

Sometimes it’s only necessary to grab your things, hop in the car, and go. This time, Woodstock was our destination. Just over 2 hours outside the city, I needed that change of pace. Woodstock’s no doubt sleepy and calm, but it still oozes cool. I quickly fell in love with this quaint little town where colorful signs flashing peace signs filled the sidewalks. It brought me back to hippie mode, something that I’ve always been afraid city life would take away from me. First thing? I whipped out my high rise flared jeans. They were just what I needed for this quick trip. I had Janis, Jimi, and Dylan on my mind the entire time I was packing. I’ve always admired that eclectic way of dressing, and so only packed a few things that could be mixed and matched, even if they didn’t really go together. What better time to bring out the navajo prints and colorful denim? Anyways, Woodstock was just what I expected. Everyone kind of knows everyone. There are only a few cafes and shops, but the appreciation for the music that’s come and gone is mind blowing. I wish I could go back in time, when everyone wore flared jeans and had flowers in their hair. I wouldn’t mind spending another weekend here.

Hippies welcome.

In the Pages

Here I am in the pages of the latest Macy’s magazine, shot by one of my favorite photographers, Anne Menke. Her photographs are always so classically beautiful. I love getting to work with such an established team. We bust out looks on set like no other! I remember growing up and being so excited for these oversize magazines to come in the mail. I’d flip through them for inspiration, cut out what I like, and stick them to my ever expanding moodboard. To be in one now feels insane. This is another little something I’ll probably be clipping into my book!

Made with Love

(Vintage crochet sweater, Supertrash lace dress and hat, Rebecca Minkoff bag, “Natalie + Dylana Suarez x Modern Vice” suede BENNI boots)
This colorful knit sweater was a little something my sister left behind in my apartment, and yep, I’ve kind of taken it, and made it my own. The colors and fit are a bit odd, but after a second glance, I became obsessed with it. It’s something I see an adorable grandma hand knit for her kids, but instead, ended up at a thrift shop…at Dy’s house…now mine. I still have it stashed away in my closet, hoping Dylana doesn’t notice it’s now mine. Pieces like these are what I’ll be throwing in my suitcase to Woodstock this weekend. I can’t wait for more all-american thrifting, some hippie sightings, and of course, frolicking by the lakes. Maybe even jumping on a horse or two! This week has been intense, but of course, spectacular, with the launch of our Modern Vice BENNI boots. Not only did we just release our surprise cheetah and black ponyhair boots TODAY, but they’re been featured on just about every one of my favorite magazines. I can hardly keep track of all the press. This little trip to Woodstock is going to be a nice break for Halloween…and just what I need for a little inspiration.
