Batty Natty
Photos by Raych of That’s Chic
I had to call this post “Batty Natty” because that was the title of the folder these images were on, sent by the amazing Raych of That’s Chic! She was in NYC for work and so of course we had to get together! During her stay, we went out with friends for an evening dinner, but then the weather turned on us and it started raining like crazy. The thunder and lightning actually created an awesome view from her hotel windows, which overlooked all of Manhattan! Us dorky girls had a night in, watched comfort television like The Cosby Show, all while getting tipsy on our wine. She is the funniest girl I know and I’m so happy we get to got together on the east coast! We snapped these photos by Cooper Square in the East Village, where we stumbled upon this awesome looking doorstep. It was an old building and the black paint was chipping off, but it definitely had that classic New York charm. I always feel like wearing stripes now, it is such a New York thing! The shoes are perfect for when I need to wear heels in the city. With the thick sole, they feel like sneakers! Now that I look at these pictures, I can see why Raych labeled me as BATTY NATTY! Welcome to the dark side 🙂
Swimfan
Here I am at my home in California, by the pool, rocking a few of my favorite new Volcom pieces. I flew back to LA this week to continue my work with Volcom. I just shot the Spring ’12 campaign yesterday and am currently designing pieces for the Fall 2012 collective. I’m super excited! I’m focusing on key pieces like skirts, dresses, and tops! It’s a totally new experience, but the whole design process seems to be coming naturally for me. How crazy is it, to get to wear my own clothes?! Right now I am rocking the Posso x Volcom one piece swimsuit designed by none other than Marylouise Pels and Vanessa Giovacchini, the stylish DJ duo! I’m obsessed with their swimwear designs this season. This one has a very sexy low back. I love this for an afternoon by the pool with nothing but a sheer black skirt and some of my favorite seashell jewels straight from Hawaii.
Travel Staples
Whenever I travel, I always throw a classic vintage white button down in my suitcase. It’s my must-have and looks good with pretty much everything. Another travel staple? One of my vintage hats. I’ve been living in this brown one. Works wonders too when I don’t feel like putting on makeup or doing my hair 🙂 I feel a bit like Indiana Jones meets Jane Goodall meets “I’m goin on a safari ride in the desert.” I love it! And I’m all for the classic black skinny, but this faux leather pair adds a cool edge to this look. What easy pieces are in your carry-on suitcase?
